The 2026 Proton e.MAS 7, Proton's first electric vehicle (EV), is a compact SUV designed to compete in the growing EV market. With a length of 4,615 mm and a wheelbase of 2,750 mm, the e.MAS 7 shares its design and structure with the Geely Galaxy E5, highlighting its badge-engineering approach. While it adopts modern styling cues, it retains the essence of its Geely counterpart with minor differences, such as Proton's branding and the omission of an illuminated grille.


Styling Influences and Design

The e.MAS 7 incorporates design elements inspired by Porsche, including full-width LED taillights reminiscent of the Cayenne and body sculpting akin to the Macan EV. The SUV is available in five exterior colors—Quartz Rose, Platinum Silver, Turquoise Green, Slate Grey, and Lithium White—paired with an Indigo Blue interior, balancing affordability and style.

Battery Options and Range

The e.MAS 7 offers two battery pack options:

  • 49.52 kWh with a WLTP range of 345 km (214 miles)
  • 60.22 kWh with a WLTP range of 410 km (255 miles)

Proton reports that after 921 full charging cycles, the battery retains 90.5% of its original health, equivalent to approximately 400,000 km (250,000 miles).


Affordability in the EV Market

The e.MAS 7 stands out with its competitive pricing:

  • Starting price: RM109,800 (~$24,400)
  • Fully loaded version: RM123,800 (~$27,500)

This positions it as a more affordable alternative to competitors like the BYD Atto 3, which starts at RM149,800 (~$33,259) and currently dominates Malaysia's EV sales.
