2026 Nissan Frontier Pro PHEV

By Team Dailyrevs

  • Nissan's First PHEV Pickup: The 2026 Frontier Pro PHEV marks Nissan's entry into the plug-in hybrid pickup segment.

  • Impressive Performance: Combines a 1.5L turbo engine with an electric motor for 402 hp and 800 Nm torque.

  • Extended Electric Range: Offers up to 135 km of electric-only driving, catering to eco-conscious drivers.

A Bold Plug-in Move for Nissan

The 2026 Nissan Frontier Pro PHEV isn’t just a concept truck floating around auto show floors — it’s production-bound, kicking off in China with global exports on the roadmap (just don’t expect it in the U.S.). This is Nissan finally taking the plug-in hybrid pickup plunge, and they didn’t go subtle.

Under the Hood: Power Meets Practicality

Let’s talk numbers first. This rig pairs a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with a beefy electric motor that’s integrated right into the transmission. Combined, it punches out 402 horsepower and a seriously strong 800 Nm of torque.

And while it’s no full EV, the 135 km electric-only range (CLTC) is more than respectable — especially for a body-on-frame pickup that still wants to play in the dirt.

Design: Rugged Without the Noise

Visually? It’s tough — but not overdone. Up front, a full-width LED light bar gives it some attitude, flanked by an illuminated Nissan badge that lights up just like every future-facing vehicle seems to these days.

Dimensionally, it’s proper truck-sized:

  • Length: 5,520 mm

  • Width: 1,960 mm

  • Height: 1,950 mm

  • Wheelbase: 3,300 mm

The stance is confident. Ground clearance looks generous. It’s clearly ready for more than just mall runs.

Interior Tech: Screens and Comfort

Inside, things lean upscale — or at least high-tech. There’s a 14.6-inch infotainment screen planted in the center, and a 10-inch digital instrument cluster behind the wheel. Seats come with heating, ventilation, and massage functions, which is borderline luxurious for a vehicle with a 3,500 kg towing capacity and a 700 mm wading depth.

Facing the Competition

This isn’t a truck launching into a vacuum. It’s going head-to-head with rivals like the BYD Shark 6, Ford Ranger PHEV, and GWM Cannon Alpha PHEV. And while Nissan’s late to this particular party, they seem to be showing up with the right kind of gear.

Global Plans, But Not for Everyone

China gets it first, and exports are planned for other markets — except the U.S., where tariffs and trade walls still loom large.
