BMW Doubles Down on Customer Racing
BMW M Motorsport has just pulled the wraps off the 2026 M2 Racing G87 — and if it looks familiar, that’s because it should. It’s based on the road-going G87 M2, but stripped, tweaked, and reworked into a serious customer racing machine. Unveiled during the DTM season opener at Oschersleben, this little brute picks up where the M2 CS Racing left off.
But this isn’t just a refreshed model. It’s an entirely new take built to fit the needs of ambitious privateers. The M2 Racing enters the paddock with one goal — give newcomers a no-nonsense way into motorsport without sacrificing legit performance.
Built on G87 Bones, Tuned for the Track
Under the hood, it's packing a straight-six 3.0-liter engine tuned to 313 horsepower (230 kW). That’s not massive by race car standards, but enough to get it north of 270 km/h — fast enough for most club-level racing series.
It’s rear-wheel drive, as it should be, and comes outfitted with a motorsport-ready suspension setup, proper race brakes, and all the usual FIA-spec safety gear. It’s not just a track toy — it’s a serious tool designed for serious racing.
