Engineering and Modular Electric Drive Kit (MEB)
The ID. Buzz is built on Volkswagen's Modular Electric Drive Kit (MEB), the scalable platform used across the ID. family. This platform allows evolutionary updates to both hardware and software, benefiting the ID. Buzz and existing models through over-the-air updates.
Advanced Assistance and Charging Technology
Equipped with innovative safety features, the ID. Buzz includes standard systems such as ‘Car2X’ hazard detection, ‘Front Assist’ emergency braking, and ‘Lane Assist’ for lane-keeping. Optional upgrades include ‘Travel Assist with swarm data’ for partially automated driving and a ‘Memory Function’ for automated parking on preset routes.
The ID. Buzz supports up to 170 kW DC fast charging, enabling a 5% to 80% charge in about 30 minutes. Its ‘Plug & Charge’ functionality streamlines charging by authenticating the vehicle directly with compatible stations. Bidirectional charging adds utility by allowing energy transfer back to the home grid via a compatible wall box.
Iconic Design with a Modern Twist
The ID. Buzz draws inspiration from the T1 microbus while incorporating sustainable design elements. Its unique proportions, short overhangs, and characteristic V-shaped front panel with LED headlights give it a timeless yet functional aesthetic.
Spacious Interior and Flexible Layout
The interior of the ID. Buzz prioritizes space and versatility. The MPV version seats five passengers comfortably, offering 1,121 liters of luggage space, expandable to 2,205 liters by folding the second row. The Cargo version features up to 3.9 m³ of load space, accommodating two euro pallets.
Optimized Aerodynamics and Compact Build
With a long wheelbase of 2,988 mm and compact dimensions (length: 4,712 mm), the ID. Buzz maximizes its footprint for practicality. The aerodynamic design boasts a drag coefficient of 0.285 for the MPV and 0.29 for the Cargo version, enhancing energy efficiency and driving range.
Manufactured in Germany
Produced at Volkswagen’s Hanover plant, the ID. Buzz benefits from German engineering precision. The facility, dedicated to all-electric vehicles since 2022, emphasizes sustainability and high-quality production standards.
European Market Launch
Pre-sales for the ID. Buzz began in May, with the first deliveries in autumn 2022. Volkswagen is also preparing for the reintroduction of the microbus in the USA and Canada through the ID. Buzz lineup.
