The LandCruiser Prado rides on Toyota’s TNGA-F platform, shared with the larger LandCruiser 300 Series, and integrates Toyota’s latest off-road and on-road driver assistance technologies. Notable additions include the V-Active 48-volt-assisted powertrain, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission for improved fuel efficiency and driving performance.

In designing this new model, Toyota revisited the essence of the original LandCruiser series, balancing its heritage with a fresh approach to functionality, rugged capability, and design. The 2025 LandCruiser Prado Kakadu features updated dimensions, now offering a longer wheelbase of 2850mm, a wider track, and increased interior space. The redesigned exterior showcases retro-inspired elements such as a flat bonnet, a low beltline, and chamfered edges, enhancing visibility and minimizing potential for damage in off-road conditions.

Inside, the LandCruiser Prado Kakadu has been modernized with a suite of advanced features, including a 12.3-inch touchscreen and a fully equipped multimedia system compatible with wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™. All variants are outfitted with Toyota’s latest multimedia system, integrating steering wheel controls, AM/FM/DAB+ radio, and Bluetooth connectivity, catering to both connectivity and entertainment.

The powertrain includes Toyota’s reliable 2.8-litre turbo-diesel engine, which, coupled with 48-volt V-Active technology, delivers smoothness and fuel efficiency with 150kW/500Nm output. The engine is connected to a new eight-speed automatic transmission, supported by full-time all-wheel drive, a dual-range transfer case, and a lockable Torsen® limited-slip differential.

For enhanced off-road capability, the Altitude version of the LandCruiser Prado features a rear differential lock and a front stabilizer disconnect mechanism, allowing for greater wheel articulation in challenging environments. The off-road suite also includes vehicle stability control, active traction control, downhill assist, crawl control, and trailer sway control, helping the LandCruiser Prado achieve a towing capacity of up to 3500kg.

The suspension system combines a double-wishbone front and four-link solid axle rear setup, while the VX and Kakadu variants add adaptive variable suspension (AVS) for improved ride quality. GX, GXL, and Altitude grades offer a three-mode drive select system, adjusting transmission and steering response to match driver preferences, while VX and Kakadu models feature an expanded five-mode system that also adapts the AVS.

The LandCruiser Prado range is equipped with Toyota Safety Sense, which includes autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, rear parking support, lane trace assist, road sign assist, and blind-spot monitoring. Toyota Connected Services are also standard, providing a range of remote access features via the myToyota Connect app.

Pricing for the five-grade lineup starts at $72,500 for the GX, offering key features like LED lighting, 18-inch alloy wheels, black bumpers, and a 7-inch digital instrument cluster. The GXL trim, priced at $79,990, adds a third-row seating option, powered tailgate, and silver trim accents. The mid-grade VX, starting at $87,400, includes 20-inch wheels, high-grade LED headlights, leather-accented seats, and a JBL premium audio system with 14 speakers.

The off-road-oriented Altitude trim, priced at $92,700, offers features like unique 18-inch alloy wheels with Toyo® all-terrain tires, moon roof, digital rearview mirror, and a color head-up display. Topping the range, the Kakadu grade at $99,990 features a panoramic moon roof, illuminated side steps, and heated second-row seats with premium interior materials.

All new LandCruiser Prado customers benefit from Toyota’s five-year, unlimited-kilometer warranty, and capped-price servicing at $390 per service for the first 10 services within the initial five years. A full-service lease option, provided through Toyota Finance Australia, offers a monthly payment plan that includes servicing, maintenance, repairs, and insurance.

Toyota offers a selection of eight exterior color options, with premium choices for VX and Kakadu buyers, such as Eclipse Black metallic and Frosted White pearl. The Altitude grade also includes distinctive options like Ningaloo Blue and Tanami Taupe, paired with a retro-inspired light gray roof.

The 2025 Toyota LandCruiser Prado Kakadu promises an upgraded driving experience across city and off-road settings, supported by a balanced combination of power, technology, and refined interior and exterior design elements.
