Reintroduction of the GR86 Hakone Edition: The 2025 Toyota GR86 Hakone Edition pays homage to the Hakone Turnpike in Japan, near Tokyo. This special edition features a bold Ridge Green exterior color and is based on the GR86 Premium grade. It offers both a six-speed manual and automatic transmission, powered by a 2.4-liter, 4-cylinder boxer engine with 228 horsepower and 184 lb.-ft. torque.

Chassis and Frame: The GR86's chassis, known for its taut and responsive feel, uses high-strength steel, hot-stamped steel, and aluminum. Strategic placement of these materials ensures a balance of roll and pitch, enhancing control. The frame features diagonal cross members, high-strength fasteners, and structural adhesive for added reinforcement.

Lightweight and Fun

Weight and Power: Weighing in at just 2,811 pounds for the manual transmission model and 2,851 pounds for the automatic, the GR86 is among the lightest sports cars on the market. It features an aluminum hood, front fenders, and roof panel to keep the weight down. The 2.4-liter FA-24 engine delivers 228 horsepower and 184 lb.-ft. of torque, achieving 0-60 mph in 6.1 seconds with the manual transmission and 6.6 seconds with the automatic.

Transmission and Handling: The GR86 includes a Torsen® limited-slip rear differential for enhanced traction. The six-speed manual transmission offers a Track mode and Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) switch-off. The automatic transmission features additional clutch discs and a high-capacity torque converter for smooth power delivery.

Interior Features: The GR86 offers a low-slung, driver-focused cockpit with a digital instrument panel, push-button start, and an 8-inch touchscreen multimedia system. The Premium grade features Ultrasuede® and leather-trimmed seats with heating, while the Base grade has sport fabric seats. Paddle shifters on the automatic transmission enhance the driving experience.

GR86 Safety & Connected Services

Safety Features: All Toyota GR86 models come with an Active Safety Suite. Automatic Transmission models include Pre-Collision Braking System, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Lane Departure Warning. Manual Transmission models include similar features but with fewer automatic interventions. Standard safety features include Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Traction Control (TRAC), Anti-lock Brake System (ABS), and more.
