Toyota GR86 GTS Receives Performance Upgrades

As the entry-level model in the GR performance lineup, the 2025 Toyota GR GR86 GTS Australian Version benefits from several updates aimed at enhancing control, responsiveness, and driver feedback, particularly in high-performance driving scenarios.

Both the suspension dampers and electric power steering system have been retuned to refine handling precision, whether on winding roads or racetracks. The 2.4-litre horizontally opposed four-cylinder engine, standard across the GR86 GT and GTS grades, has been recalibrated with an updated throttle map, eliminating previous smoothing control and ignition delay functionality. This adjustment results in sharper throttle response and more linear power delivery.

The GR86 continues to be available with a choice of a six-speed manual or automatic transmission. The automatic variant has been revised based on user feedback, allowing for manual downshifting at higher RPMs. Drivers can now initiate downshifts during spirited driving at 1600 RPM higher than before, enhancing engine braking and acceleration control through corners.

Despite these refinements, the FA24 engine maintains its peak output figures of 174kW at 7000rpm and 250Nm of torque at 3700rpm. With a front-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout, the GR86 remains a driver-focused coupe designed for responsive handling and performance.

GR86 Limited Edition: Exclusive Styling and Performance Enhancements

The flagship model in the GR86 lineup, the Limited Edition, introduces exclusive design elements and performance upgrades, with only 86 units available for the Australian market.

Distinguished by its Forest Shadow green exterior, the Limited Edition features bronze 18-inch alloy wheels and red-painted brake calipers. Built on the GTS trim with the Dynamic Performance Pack, it includes ZF Sachs shock absorbers and high-performance Brembo® brakes, further refining track-focused handling.
