Drivers can select from four drive modes: Sport, Normal, ECO, and Custom, with the DAT tuned specifically for the Sport mode to enhance driving potential on race circuits.

Six-Speed Intelligent Manual Transmission

For those who prefer manual control, the GR Corolla also offers a six-speed intelligent Manual Transmission with rev-matching capability, activated with the push of a button. The 2025 model features an improved clutch system with a snappier pedal response, focusing on precision in quick starts and half-clutch operation.

All 2025 GR Corolla models are powered by the 1.6-liter G16E-GTS 3-cylinder turbocharged engine, generating 300 horsepower and 295 lb.-ft. of torque. To maintain optimal operating temperatures, DAT models come standard with an Automatic Transmission Fluid cooler, while the Premium and Premium Plus grades offer an optional sub-radiator.

The GR team has refined the vehicle’s handling by testing it under extreme conditions. Updates to the suspension, including the addition of rebound springs and improvements to the rear coils and stabilizers, enhance ground contact, vehicle response, and cornering stability. The rear axle’s trailing arm mounting point has been adjusted to reduce squat during acceleration, ensuring smoother cornering and improved drive force response.

The GR-FOUR All-Wheel-Drive system, developed with input from the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing World Rally Team, allows drivers to adjust the torque distribution between the front and rear wheels using the Normal, Gravel, or Track AWD modes. This system provides excellent traction on various surfaces, improving overall driving stability.

For 2025, the GR Corolla also comes equipped with front and rear Torsen® Limited-Slip Differentials (LSD), offering better cornering control by distributing torque across the front and rear axles. Additionally, the launch control system, exclusive to DAT models, aids drivers in achieving quicker acceleration from a stationary position.
