2025 Slate Pickup Truck

By Team Dailyrevs

  • The 2026 Slate Pickup Truck debuts as the most affordable EV pickup in the U.S., starting under $20,000 after federal incentives.

  • Designed for customization, it offers over 100 optional accessories, including a kit to convert it into a five-passenger SUV.

  • Backed by Jeff Bezos, Slate Auto aims to disrupt the EV market with simplicity, affordability, and personalization.

Stripped-Down Simplicity, Built to Work

The 2026 Slate Pickup Truck isn’t trying to be flashy — in fact, that’s kind of the point. In a sea of six-figure EVs packed with screens, lights, and noise, Slate Auto’s new compact truck is going the opposite direction. One body color. No touchscreen. No stereo. Just a phone mount and a utilitarian vibe. Honestly? It kind of works.

Slate, the Detroit-based startup backed by Jeff Bezos, wants to make EVs actually attainable. With a price starting under $20,000 (thanks to federal tax credits), this one’s the cheapest EV pickup in the U.S. That’s no small deal in 2026.

Designed to Be Yours — Literally

One of the cooler things about the Slate truck? You can make it yours. There’s a whole catalog of over 100 accessories — racks, panels, even a kit that converts the two-seat truck into a five-passenger SUV. That upgrade runs about five grand, which still keeps it way under the price of a Rivian or Tesla.

They’re also rolling out something called “Slate University” to help folks mod their rides safely and smartly. It’s a DIY dream for people who’ve felt boxed in by modern car design.

Compact But Capable

Let’s talk specs, briefly. Rear-wheel drive only. Single electric motor with 201 hp. Two battery choices: the smaller 52.7 kWh pack gets about 150 miles, the bigger 84.3 kWh goes up to 240. Either way, 120 kW DC fast charging helps keep things moving.

Size-wise, it’s tidy — 175 inches long with a 5-foot bed. Payload’s 1,430 lbs, and you can tow up to 1,000 lbs. It’s not trying to be a Silverado replacement, but it’ll handle your weekend runs to the lumber yard just fine.

The Anti-Cybertruck?

If the Tesla Cybertruck is all drama and armor, this thing is flannel and function. It’s also gunning for the same folks who might’ve looked at a Ford Maverick hybrid but want to go full electric — or just want something easy to work on.

And while Slate’s still getting off the ground — production starts late 2026 — you can already drop $50 to reserve one. It’s refundable. Low risk. Might be worth it just to watch what happens.
