The Renault 5 Turbo 3E, however, is more than a nostalgic tribute. It redefines the concept of a compact performance car, merging modern electric technology with extreme customization options. With 540 hp, a 0-100 km/h time of under 3.5 seconds, and a lightweight carbon superstructure, it delivers supercar-like performance in a compact format. Featuring a length-to-width ratio of 2.01, it rivals traditional supercars while maintaining the agility of a hot hatch.

Built on a bespoke platform, the Renault 5 Turbo 3E aligns with Renault’s electrification strategy, positioned alongside the Renault 5 E-Tech Electric and Alpine A290. Following the legacy of the original Renault 5 lineup, it benefits from Alpine’s motorsport expertise and contributions from Renault’s technology divisions, including Ampere for software integration and Mobilize for advanced charging solutions like V2L and V2G capabilities.

The Renault 5 Turbo 3E is powered by dual rear-mounted electric motors, each driving a 20-inch wheel. The 70 kWh battery, housed under the floor, contributes to a low center of gravity, enhancing handling dynamics and track capabilities.

Weighing approximately 1,450 kg, the Renault 5 Turbo 3E achieves a power-to-weight ratio of 2.7 kg per hp, comparable to high-performance supercars. It is expected to deliver a range of over 400 km (WLTP pending), with an 800-volt architecture enabling rapid DC fast charging. Charging from 15% to 80% takes just 15 minutes at up to 350 kW, while the onboard 11 kW AC charger provides a full charge in around eight hours. A power boost function enhances acceleration, and the regenerative braking system can be adjusted across four levels.

For track enthusiasts, the Renault 5 Turbo 3E features a dedicated drift-assist function, allowing for controlled slides and precise handling. The rally-inspired vertical handbrake further enhances its performance pedigree.

Driver-Focused Interior with Advanced Connectivity

Inside, the Renault 5 Turbo 3E prioritizes performance and technology. The cabin features lightweight carbon bucket seats with six-point harnesses, Alcantara upholstery, and a minimalist dashboard designed for high-speed driving. The 10.1-inch and 10.25-inch OpenR digital displays provide driving, navigation, and multimedia information, integrating Google’s built-in services for seamless connectivity. The OpenR Link system allows over-the-air updates and access to Google Maps for real-time navigation and charging station locations.

Bespoke Customization and Exclusive Availability

Renault offers extensive customization for the Renault 5 Turbo 3E, with exterior and interior color schemes inspired by classic rally liveries such as the Renault 5 Turbo’s “Tour de Corse 1982” design. Customers can personalize their vehicles with a wide range of trim, upholstery, and dashboard finishes.

Limited to just 1,980 units as a tribute to the Renault 5 Turbo’s launch year, the Renault 5 Turbo 3E will be available in key global markets, including Europe, the Middle East, Japan, and Australia. Each unit will be individually numbered, with customers able to select their preferred production number upon ordering. Reservations are set to open soon, with deliveries beginning in 2027.
