To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Tignanello, one of the most influential red wines, Maserati crafted a customized Fuoriserie version of its latest creation, the 2024 Maserati GranCabrio Folgore Tignanello. This model represents the most futuristic expression of the brand's 100% electric production from Modena. Created exclusively for Marchesi Antinori, this bespoke car will be auctioned on July 14 in California at Festival Napa Valley’s Arts for All Gala—one of the leading arts charity events in the US.
For the 110th anniversary of the Trident, Maserati collaborates with Marchesi Antinori, a winery with a family history of over 600 years and 26 generations. The production of Marchesi Antinori and Tignanello mirrors the passion and innovative spirit that has always characterized Maserati, a pioneer in the history of motoring. The collaboration reflects the shared values of tradition, identity, and the pursuit of excellence.
The inspiration for the GranCabrio Folgore Tignanello comes from the vineyard, symbolizing roots and territory. Both Maserati and Marchesi Antinori value their local areas, enhancing their end products. The Terra di Tignanello paint, a chestnut color inspired by the vineyard’s soil and the coppery burgundy of Tignanello’s characteristic barriques, adorns the car’s exterior. The rims and callipers are matte and gloss black, respectively, while the emblems feature copper accents with the Maserati logo in glossy copper on a gloss background. The soft top fabric is also black.
The interior of the GranCabrio Folgore Tignanello celebrates the history of both Maserati and Tignanello, combining tradition, innovation, and craftsmanship. The seats feature leather with a multi-material silver and burgundy ribbed weave made of Vegea, an innovative fabric derived from vineyards, recalling the pattern of the Tignanello vineyard. Dark briar wood with laser etching decorates the panels, highlighting details about the creation of Tignanello. The headrest embroidery combines the Maserati Trident with Tignanello’s hallmark sun, a distinctive feature of the bottle label. The central tunnel is laser-etched with the dates 1971-2021, marking 50 years since Tignanello's release.
The GranCabrio Folgore is Maserati's latest addition and the first 100% electric convertible in the luxury segment, boasting the fastest performance on the market. Equipped with a battery system based on 800V technology developed with cutting-edge solutions from Formula E, it offers outstanding performance combined with Maserati's signature comfort and elegance. The GranCabrio provides four true seats, made possible by the soft top, and features innovative systems such as a neck warmer for cooler weather and a wind stopper to reduce turbulence inside the passenger compartment.
Tignanello was the first Sangiovese to be aged in barriques, the first contemporary red wine blended with non-traditional grape varieties like Cabernet, and one of the first Chianti Classico red wines not to use white grapes. Tignanello is a milestone that embodies the Antinori family's motto, “Te Duce Proficio” (“Following your guide I flourish”). The wine is crafted from carefully selected Sangiovese and Cabernet grapes harvested from the Tenuta Tignanello vineyard in Chianti Classico, covering 57 hectares (141 acres) with south-west sunlight exposure.
