2025 Isuzu MU-X Ultimate
Isuzu revealed the facelifted version of the MU-X in Thailand, bringing a series of visual and technological updates, with carried-over ladder-frame underpinnings and diesel powertrain options. The three-row SUV, which is closely related to the Isuzu D-Max pickup, is now available in a new RS trim featuring sportier styling cues, alongside the more luxurious Ultimate trim.
Compared to the second generation of the Isuzu MU-X that debuted in late 2020, the mid-lifecycle update adopts a completely redesigned face. The larger grille is flanked by more aggressive bumper intakes and sharper LED headlights. At the back, Isuzu designers added full-width LED taillights and a tweaked rear bumper.
The new RS trim is distinguished by the chrome-infused grill, the garnish around the intakes, the front skid plate, and the rear bumper extensions. It also gets a unique set of black 20-inch alloy wheels, with a matching finish for the fender flares and the roof. Finally, the RS emblems and the center caps have lime green accents.
Inside, there is a new 7-inch screen within the instrument cluster, combined with an updated 9-inch infotainment, which is compatible with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Besides the instrument panel, the seats and door cards have been revised in order to look more premium than before. The RS has black inserts and red ambient lighting, while the Ultimate features truffle brown leather upholstery and matching inserts.
Safety equipment has been improved with a new camera, supporting an array of ADAS. Depending on the trim level, these include lane keeping assist, traffic jam assist, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, and rear-cross traffic brake. Drivers also have access to a surround view monitor on the central display, offering the ability to see under the vehicle’s floor when off-roading.
It appears that nothing has changed under the hood, with the Isuzu MU-X retaining two turbodiesel powertrain options. The base 1.9-liter engine is good for 148 hp (110 kW / 150 PS), while the more potent 3.0-liter mill makes 187 hp (140 kW / 190 PS). Power is transmitted to the rear wheels (4×2) besides the flagship RS which is also available with a proper 4WD system. In Thailand, all of the MU-X versions have a six-speed automatic gearbox.
The updated model is already available to order in Thailand and is expected to reach other markets in the near future. Pricing for the 2025 Isuzu MU-X starts from THB 1,184,000 ($32,300) for the entry-level 4×2 Elegant 1.9 trim, and climbs to THB 1,759,000 ($47,987) for the 4×4 RS 3.0 flagship. Rivals in the truck-based SUV segment include the Toyota Fortuner, and the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport.
