Hyundai has introduced the 2025 Hyundai Creta EV in India, expanding its lineup with a fully electric version of one of its most popular SUVs in the region. The model incorporates a zero-emission powertrain and subtle design adjustments that distinguish it from the internal combustion engine (ICE) variants.

Exterior Design

The Hyundai Creta Electric features a split-grille design with a blocked, pixelated upper grille and active aero flaps in the lower bumper intake. The rear bumper integrates a pixelated pattern above the aluminum-style skid plate, with minimal plastic cladding for a modern aesthetic. Retaining its ICE-powered counterpart's profile, the EV gains unique 17-inch aero-optimized wheels and is available in the striking Ocean Blue metallic shade.

• Charging port and storage features: The charging port is located behind the front emblem, and a small frunk provides additional storage.
• Competitive positioning: The Creta EV will rival models like the Suzuki eVitara, Mahindra BE 6, and Tata Curvv EV, with its official debut scheduled for the Bharat Mobility Show.

Performance and Battery Options

Hyundai has yet to confirm detailed powertrain specifications but suggests a single electric motor powering the front axle. With a 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) acceleration time of 7.9 seconds, the 2025 Hyundai Creta EV outpaces the ICE-powered Creta N Line in speed.

• Two battery options are available:
  • 42 kWh with a range of 390 km (242 miles).
  • 51.4 kWh with a range of 473 km (294 miles), based on ARAI standards.
• Fast charging supports a 10-80% charge in 58 minutes using a DC charger, while an 11 kW AC wallbox achieves a 10-100% charge in 4 hours.
• The EV includes a compact frunk for storage and a charging port concealed behind the front Hyundai emblem.

Interior Features

Inside, the Creta Electric incorporates features designed for an electric-specific experience:

• A new steering wheel with a gear selector sourced from the Ioniq 5.
• A central knob offering Eco, Normal, and Sport driving modes.
• Updated digital cockpit graphics, displayed across dual 10.25-inch screens.
• Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality with a plug beneath the rear bench, allowing external electronic devices to be powered.

Competitive Positioning

The Hyundai Creta EV is set to compete with other electric SUVs, including the Suzuki eVitara, Mahindra BE 6, and Tata Curvv EV. While the model will make its formal debut at the Bharat Mobility Show on January 17, Hyundai has not confirmed plans for its availability in other markets.

The current generation of the Hyundai Creta, launched in 2019, received a mid-cycle update in 2024.
