Equipped with cutting-edge technology, the Honda 0 SUV integrates the ASIMO OS, which facilitates ultra-personalized digital user experiences and dynamic vehicle control. The inclusion of steer-by-wire technology offers superior handling by coordinating steering, suspension, and braking systems through a centralized electronic framework. The production version of the Honda 0 SUV will be manufactured at the Honda EV Hub in Ohio and launched in North America in 2026, followed by markets in Japan and Europe.
ASIMO Operating System (OS)
The ASIMO OS is Honda's proprietary vehicle operating system designed for the 0 Series. Named after Honda’s renowned ASIMO humanoid robot, this system incorporates advanced robotics and artificial intelligence to deliver personalized, software-defined vehicle (SDV) experiences.
By leveraging over-the-air (OTA) updates, the ASIMO OS ensures continuous enhancement of vehicle features, including automated driving systems and in-vehicle infotainment. This capability allows owners to receive updates tailored to their preferences, offering a customizable driving and ownership experience. All Honda 0 Series models, including the production versions of the SUV and Saloon, will integrate the ASIMO OS.
Automated Driving Technology
Building on its leadership in automated driving, Honda will include advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and Level 3 automated driving capabilities in the 0 Series models. This approach aims to enhance safety by addressing scenarios that human drivers might find challenging.
Through partnerships and proprietary AI technologies, including unsupervised learning from Helm.ai and driver behavior modeling, Honda is refining its automated systems for broader application. These advancements allow the vehicle to handle unexpected road conditions, such as sudden obstacles or erratic traffic patterns, while ensuring driver and passenger safety.
Development of System-on-Chip (SoC)
Honda’s collaboration with Renesas Electronics Corporation focuses on creating a high-performance SoC optimized for centralized electrical/electronic (E/E) architecture. This architecture consolidates various electronic control units (ECUs) into a single core, enabling streamlined management of systems like ADAS, powertrain controls, and comfort features.
The SoC design combines Renesas’ Gen 5 R-Car X5 series with Honda’s custom AI accelerator, achieving industry-leading performance with energy efficiency. These innovations support the next-generation SDVs within the 0 Series lineup.
Energy Services and Charging Infrastructure
Honda is developing energy solutions to complement its 0 Series vehicles. These include a robust charging network and home energy management systems designed to optimize EV ownership while reducing environmental impact.
The company plans to integrate its 0 Series models with a network of over 100,000 charging stations in North America by 2030, facilitated through partnerships with automakers and the adoption of the North American Charging Standard (NACS). In addition, Honda’s intelligent charging services will personalize the charging experience, leveraging AI technologies like Amazon Bedrock and data analytics.
Home energy solutions include Honda Smart Charge, which manages EV charging to minimize electricity costs and maximize the use of renewable energy. This system enables 0 Series models to serve as virtual power plants, storing energy during low-cost periods and supplying it back to the grid during peak demand.
