2025 Ginetta Akula

By Team Dailyrevs

British sports car manufacturer Ginetta has introduced the production version of its 600bhp V8-powered 2025 Ginetta Akula. This high-performance road-going supercar, priced from £275,000 (excluding taxes and shipping), is based on the concept originally revealed in 2019. The Akula is the first of its kind in Ginetta’s 66-year history and will be limited to only 20 models, marking the 20th anniversary of Dr. Lawrence Tomlinson’s acquisition of the company. Tomlinson, a Le Mans GT2 class winner, has been actively involved in the development and testing of the Akula.

  • The 2025 Ginetta Akula is a limited-edition supercar powered by a 600bhp V8 engine, priced from £275,000, and limited to only 20 units.
  • It marks the 20th anniversary of Dr. Lawrence Tomlinson’s acquisition of Ginetta and is the first road-going supercar in the company's 66-year history.
  • The Akula features motorsport-derived aerodynamics, including a carbon monocoque chassis, front splitter, rear wing, and diffuser to improve downforce and handling.
  • Powered by a 6.4-liter naturally aspirated V8 engine, the Akula achieves 600bhp at 7,200rpm and 670Nm of torque, reaching 62mph in 2.9 seconds with a top speed over 180mph.
  • The supercar offers both a six-speed manual and seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, paired with a limited-slip differential for optimal rear-wheel traction.
  • Carbon ceramic brakes and other track-focused features are available in the optional Race Pack, enhancing braking performance and reducing weight for hot-weather track conditions.
  • The mid-engine placement provides a 50:50 weight distribution, improving balance and agility, while the double wishbone suspension setup ensures precise handling.
  • The Akula includes a customized interior, featuring driver-specific seat padding, an adjustable steering column, and a racing-spec multi-functional steering wheel.

Motorsport Engineering and Aerodynamics

Drawing from Ginetta's elite motorsport program, the 2025 Ginetta Akula is designed with advanced racing technologies. Its low-slung, aggressive design showcases the use of a carbon monocoque chassis with carbon subframes, paired with a steel roll cage for added rigidity. The Akula's aerodynamic features, inspired by Ginetta’s LMP1 race car, include a flat carbon fiber floor, front splitter, rear wing, and diffuser. These components work together to reduce air turbulence and generate substantial downforce, enabling high-speed cornering stability.

Powertrain and Performance

Weighing only 1,190kg, the Akula is powered by a 6.4-liter naturally aspirated V8 engine. The engine delivers 600bhp at 7,200rpm and 670Nm of torque at 5,100rpm. This lightweight build and powerful engine combination allows the Akula to reach 62mph in just 2.9 seconds and achieve a top speed exceeding 180mph. Buyers can choose between a six-speed manual or seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The rear-wheel-drive system includes a limited-slip differential for improved traction during high-performance driving.

Braking and Handling

The Akula’s handling benefits from its motorsport-inspired double wishbone suspension, with billet aluminium uprights and two-way adjustable dampers. The suspension is electronically controlled, allowing for on-the-fly adjustments to the car's stiffness, while adjustable anti-roll bars further fine-tune the setup. For braking, the Akula comes with four-pot calipers and 360mm ventilated steel discs, with an advanced ABS system. Buyers opting for the Race Pack can upgrade to carbon-ceramic brakes, reducing weight and improving braking performance during track use.

Balanced Weight Distribution

The mid-engine placement of the V8 within the Akula enhances its agility, providing a near-perfect 50:50 weight distribution. With the major components positioned between the axles, the Akula achieves a low polar moment of inertia, improving its ability to change direction quickly. The carbon monocoque’s design allows for better aerodynamic efficiency at both the front and rear, with additional handling precision provided by Ginetta's electric power steering and racing-spec competition steering rack.

Practicality Meets Performance

Despite its track-focused engineering, the 2025 Ginetta Akula retains a high level of practicality. A 100-litre fuel tank gives the Akula an estimated range of 450 miles, while its 473-litre boot can accommodate luggage for two. Inside the car, the seats are built into the monocoque, and custom-moulded padding is fitted to suit each driver’s body shape. The steering column and pedal box are electronically adjustable, catering to both track and road driving positions.

Technology and Interior

A Ginetta-developed touchscreen infotainment system with full iOS integration, heated windscreen, cup holders, and wireless phone charging come standard in the Akula. The cabin features machined aluminium accents on the door handles, air vents, and center console, complementing the carbon-fiber surround for a refined driving environment.

Limited Production

With only 20 units being built, the 2025 Ginetta Akula is a rare collector’s item. Priced from £275,000, this exclusive supercar offers a unique opportunity to own a piece of British automotive and motorsport history. Limited build slots remain available for purchase.
