2025 Ford Maverick Lobo Introduction: Inspired by the lowered truck era of the mid-1980s to early 2000s, the 2025 Ford Maverick Lobo is designed for modern street truck builds.
New Model Addition: The Maverick Lobo adds a street-performance version to the Maverick lineup, which includes the off-road capable Maverick Tremor and the efficient Maverick Hybrid.
Design Inspiration: Maverick designer Josh Blundo's modifications to a clay model in 2019 led to a special build by Tucci Hot Rods, which influenced the design of the Lobo.
Collaborative Engineering: Engineers like Keith Daugherty enhanced the springs, suspension, and components from other Ford performance vehicles to create an on-road performance truck.
Performance Features: The Maverick Lobo features a lowered ride height, on-road tuned suspension, tuned shocks, and a 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine meeting Built Ford Tough standards.
Enhanced Driving Dynamics: The truck includes tuned steering, a twin-clutch rear drive unit, and bigger brakes with dual-piston front brake calipers from the Focus ST.
Lobo Drive Mode: Inspired by drifting and autocross, the Lobo drive mode improves cornering performance, grip, and stability, designed for closed course use.
Cooling System Upgrade: The Maverick Lobo's cooling system includes a larger radiator, fan from the Maverick's 4K towing package, and a transmission oil cooler.
Distinctive Design: The Lobo features unique front styling, a painted rear bumper, rocker moldings, a black-painted roof, 19-inch black wheels, and interior design inspired by street art and streetwear trends.
Technology Options: The truck is available in standard and high configurations, with the high configuration offering additional features like heated seats, Ford Co-Pilot360 2.0, a 360-degree camera, and Pro Trailer Hitch Assist and Pro Trailer Backup Assist starting early in 2025.
Maverick Lobo Design and Development
When Ford Maverick designer Josh Blundo joined Ford in 2019, he recognized the potential of the Ford Maverick and began modifying a clay model with features like a widebody, wings, front splitter, and wheels. This vision led to a special build by Tucci Hot Rods that garnered attention at the 2021 Special Equipment Manufacturers Association (SEMA) trade show. Blundo's concept eventually received approval, and the team started designing the Lobo. Concurrently, engineers like Keith Daugherty worked on enhancing the springs, suspension, and other components to create an authentic on-road performance truck.
Engineered for On-Road Performance
The Ford Maverick Lobo features a lowered ride height and an on-road tuned suspension, complete with tuned shocks and a 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine that meets Built Ford Tough standards and is backed by a factory warranty. The ride height is lowered by half an inch in the front and 1.12 inches in the rear, with the roof height reduced by 0.8 inches. The tuned steering, twin-clutch rear drive unit, and enhanced brakes, including dual-piston front brake calipers from the Focus ST, contribute to the performance car-like drive. The new Lobo drive mode, inspired by drifting and autocross, enhances cornering performance, grip, and stability by minimizing understeer. This mode is designed for closed courses, similar to Mustang's track mode. The cooling system has been upgraded with a larger radiator, fan from the Maverick's 4K towing package, and a transmission oil cooler to ensure it can handle demanding performance driving.
Street Truck Design
The Ford Maverick Lobo retains the Maverick's aesthetics with unique front styling, a painted rear bumper, and rocker moldings, complemented by a black-painted roof and 19-inch black wheels. Interior design elements are inspired by street art and current streetwear trends, featuring Grabber Blue and Electric Lime accent stitching, graffiti-inspired overprints on the seats, and the Lobo name embossed into the black driver and passenger seats.
Purposeful Technology
The Ford Maverick Lobo offers two configurations: standard and high. The standard configuration includes all the features mentioned above, while the high configuration adds additional comforts such as a heated steering wheel and seats, Ford Co-Pilot360 2.0 driver-assist technologies, a 360-degree camera, spray-in bedliner, moonroof, and, starting early in 2025, Pro Trailer Hitch Assist and Pro Trailer Backup Assist. Pro Trailer Hitch Assist simplifies the process of hitching a trailer by using the rear camera and corner radars to align the hitch with the trailer coupler, controlling the truck's speed, steering, and braking to stop at the right place. Pro Trailer Backup Assist makes reversing a trailer easy by allowing the driver to turn a knob to indicate the trailer's direction.
Ordering for the 2025 Ford Maverick Lobo begins on August 1, with deliveries starting in early 2025. High configuration models will have late availability.
