Ford is revitalizing the Capri name with a new electric coupe-SUV based on the compact Explorer, utilizing the VW MEB platform shared with models like the ID.4 and ID.5. The Capri features a sportier design with a sloping fastback tail, appealing to those who prioritize style and performance.

  • Ford introduces the 2025 Ford Capri, an electric coupe-SUV based on the compact Explorer, utilizing the VW MEB platform.

  • The Capri features a sportier design with a sloping fastback tail, appealing to those prioritizing style and performance.

  • Design elements inspired by the 1969-86 Capri coupe include a black band across the nose, quad-headlight-inspired DRLs, subtle fender peaks, and a flicked-up tail reminiscent of the RS3100’s ducktail spoiler.

  • The Capri's interior retains the 14.6-inch portrait infotainment screen and secret stash compartment from the Explorer, with the steering wheel's bottom spoke echoing classic sports steering wheels.

  • The base rear-wheel-drive Capri offers 282 hp (286 PS / 210 kW) and accelerates from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 6.4 seconds.

  • A dual-motor version provides 335 hp (340 PS / 250 kW) with a 5.3-second 0-62 mph time, with a reduced driving range compared to the single-motor version.

  • The single-motor Capri delivers up to 390 miles (627 km) of driving range, while the dual-motor version offers up to 368 miles (592 km).

  • The dual-motor model charges faster, accepting 185 kW compared to the base model's 135 kW, reducing the 10-80 percent charge time to 26 minutes.

  • Standard features include dual-zone climate control, heated 12-way massage seats, heated and folding mirrors, keyless entry and start, wireless phone charging, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

  • The Premium trim adds a 10-speaker B&O sound system, ambient interior lighting, Matrix LED lights, a hands-free rear hatch, and safety features like a head-up display, active park assist, assisted lane change, and a 360-degree camera.

Past Meets Future

Drawing inspiration from the 1969-86 Capri coupe, Ford's design team incorporated classic elements like a black band across the nose, quad-headlight-inspired DRLs, subtle fender peaks, and a flicked-up tail reminiscent of the RS3100’s ducktail spoiler. The design seamlessly blends vintage cues with modern aesthetics.

Vintage Details

Notable retro features include the oval rear side window and the steering wheel's bottom spoke, which mirrors the look of classic sports steering wheels with drilled metal spokes. Inside, the Capri retains the 14.6-inch portrait infotainment screen and secret stash compartment from the Explorer, adding a touch of nostalgia.

Powerful Performance

The base rear-wheel-drive Capri boasts 282 hp (286 PS / 210 kW), nearly double the output of the most powerful V6 Capri from the past. It accelerates from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 6.4 seconds. For those seeking more power, the dual-motor version offers 335 hp (340 PS / 250 kW) and a 5.3-second 0-62 mph time, with a trade-off in driving range.

Range and Charging

The single-motor Capri offers a driving range of up to 390 miles (627 km), while the dual-motor version provides up to 368 miles (592 km). The dual-motor model charges faster, accepting 185 kW compared to the base model's 135 kW, reducing the 10-80 percent charge time to 26 minutes.

Premium Features

All Capri models come with dual-zone climate control, heated 12-way massage seats, heated and folding mirrors that project the Capri logo, keyless entry and start, wireless phone charging, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Premium trim adds a 10-speaker B&O sound system, ambient interior lighting, Matrix LED lights, and a hands-free rear hatch.

Enhanced Safety and Convenience

Upgrading to Premium also includes 20-inch wheels, with an option for 21-inch wheels and additional safety features such as a head-up display, active park assist, assisted lane change, and a 360-degree camera.

Pricing and Availability

Ford has yet to announce the official pricing for the Capri, but it is expected to be similar to the Explorer. The single-motor 282 hp SUV starts at £45,875 ($58,750) in the UK, £49,975 ($64,000) for the Premium trim, and £53,975 ($69,100) for the AWD Premium model.
