2025 Chevrolet Blazer EV.R NASCAR Concept: Performance and Innovation

Chevrolet has introduced the 2025 Chevrolet Blazer EV.R NASCAR Concept, debuting ahead of the 2025 DAYTONA 500. This prototype represents Chevrolet’s ongoing efforts to test and develop emerging technologies for both motorsports and production vehicles. The Blazer EV.R delivers over 1,300 horsepower through three six-phase electric motors capable of reaching 15,000 rpm, powered by a 78-kWh liquid-cooled battery.

The Blazer EV.R NASCAR Concept is based on NASCAR’s Next Gen chassis and suspension components, integrating a programmable all-wheel-drive system and Goodyear Racing Eagle tires for optimized traction. Testing and Track Development

GM engineers transitioned the concept into a working prototype, successfully completing high-speed test laps at Carolina Motorsports Park in Kershaw, South Carolina. NASCAR’s Vice President of Vehicle Design, Brandon Thomas, noted that the project showcases a fusion of cutting-edge EV technology with NASCAR’s Next Gen platform, reinforcing Chevrolet’s role in advancing electric performance racing.

Driver Insights and Regenerative Braking Adaptation

During testing, Team Chevy driver Justin Allgaier, the 2024 NASCAR Xfinity Series Champion, piloted the Blazer EV.R. He highlighted the challenge of adapting to regenerative braking technology, which alters braking sections and cornering balance compared to traditional V8-powered race cars. Adjusting to instant torque delivery and electric power management played a crucial role in refining the driving dynamics of the Blazer EV.R on the track.

Blazer EV SS to Pace the 2025 DAYTONA 500

In addition to the Blazer EV.R NASCAR Concept, Chevrolet will showcase the Blazer EV SS as the official pace car for the 67th DAYTONA 500 on February 16, 2025. The Blazer EV SS delivers 615 horsepower, accelerating from 0-60 mph in just 3.4 seconds with Wide Open Watts mode, making it the quickest SS model Chevrolet has ever produced. As previously announced, actor Alan Ritchson will serve as the honorary pace car driver for the event.
