2025 BMW M3 CS Touring G81

By Team Dailyrevs

The 2025 BMW M3 CS Touring G81 delivers high-performance driving dynamics through a model-specific engine configuration, an M xDrive all-wheel-drive system, and an eight-speed M Steptronic transmission. Accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 3.5 seconds, this special-edition Touring model is built for speed and precision.

The global debut of the BMW M3 CS Touring will take place at Mount Panorama Circuit in Bathurst, Australia, during the Bathurst 12 Hour race on January 30, 2025. Production will be limited, with deliveries commencing in March 2025 across Europe, Australia, Japan, South Korea, and other select markets. Germany remains the primary sales region. Manufacturing is set at the BMW Group Plant in Munich, alongside the BMW M3 Sedan and M3 Touring variants.

Race-Inspired Six-Cylinder Engine

At the heart of the BMW M3 CS Touring G81 is a 3.0-liter inline-six engine, engineered for track performance. It features an ultra-rigid crankcase, a lightweight forged crankshaft, and a 3D-printed cylinder head core for optimal strength and efficiency. The iron-coated cylinder bores minimize frictional losses, while the high-performance cooling and oil systems are built to withstand the rigors of track driving.

This high-revving power unit is equipped with upgraded M TwinTurbo technology, increasing boost pressure to 2.1 bar. As a result, the engine produces 405 kW (550 hp) and 650 Nm (479 lb-ft) of torque between 2,750 and 5,950 rpm. Maximum power is achieved at 6,250 rpm, with a redline of 7,200 rpm.

  • 3.0L inline-six engine with 550 hp and 650 Nm torque delivers track-focused performance with M TwinTurbo technology.
  • M xDrive all-wheel-drive system with Active M Differential ensures rear-biased handling and dynamic power distribution.
  • Eight-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic offers adjustable shift modes for different driving conditions.
  • Carbon fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP) components reduce weight while maintaining structural rigidity.
  • Adaptive M suspension and M Servotronic steering system enhance handling precision and stability.
  • M Compound brakes with optional M Carbon ceramic brakes provide strong stopping power under high-performance driving.
  • Forged M light-alloy wheels with track tires maximize grip, with 19-inch front and 20-inch rear sizes.
  • BMW iDrive 8.5 system with 12.3-inch instrument cluster and 14.9-inch touchscreen integrates voice and touch controls.
  • M Carbon bucket seats and lightweight interior trim contribute to a 15 kg weight reduction.
  • Driver assistance systems including Parking Assistant, Lane Departure Warning, and Speed Limit Info enhance convenience and safety.

A specially designed engine mounting system enhances rigidity, delivering sharper throttle response and more direct power transfer. The BMW M3 CS Touring sprints from 0 to 200 km/h (124 mph) in 11.7 seconds. Using the one-foot rollout method, the model achieves 0 to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds and 0 to 200 km/h in 11.4 seconds. The M Driver’s Package comes as standard, enabling an electronically limited top speed of 300 km/h (186 mph).

The M-specific exhaust system, featuring electrically controlled flaps and a titanium rear silencer, enhances the vehicle’s acoustic signature. The dual-pipe setup in matte black produces a distinctive exhaust note, varying with selectable SPORT and SPORT+ driving modes.

Advanced Drivetrain and Transmission

The eight-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic ensures optimal gear changes for different driving conditions. A Drivelogic button allows the driver to toggle between three shift modes, including a setting optimized for track use. Drivers can also engage manual gear selection via the carbon-fiber shift paddles on the steering wheel.

The BMW M3 CS Touring G81 utilizes an M xDrive all-wheel-drive system with an electronically controlled multi-plate clutch for dynamic power distribution. Working in sync with the Active M Differential, this setup provides rear-biased handling characteristics. The 4WD Sport mode channels more power to the rear wheels for a sportier feel, while 2WD mode enables pure rear-wheel-drive performance with the Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) deactivated.

Chassis, Suspension, and Braking System

The adaptive M suspension has been specifically tuned to match the performance attributes of the BMW M3 CS Touring G81. The M Servotronic steering system and integrated braking system provide precise handling and stopping power, ensuring stability under extreme driving conditions.

The model comes standard with M Compound brakes, available with red or black calipers. Optional M Carbon ceramic brakes offer enhanced performance, with calipers finished in red or matte gold.

Forged M light-alloy wheels, finished in either matte Gold Bronze or matte Black, measure 19 inches at the front and 20 inches at the rear. Standard track tires (275/35 ZR19 front, 285/30 ZR20 rear) maximize grip, with an optional sport tire setup available at no extra cost.

Lightweight Construction and Aerodynamics

Weight reduction plays a critical role in the BMW M3 CS Touring G81. Extensive use of carbon fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP) in the bonnet, front splitter, air intakes, exterior mirrors, and rear diffuser minimizes mass while maintaining structural rigidity.

Inside the cabin, M Carbon bucket seats, CFRP steering wheel shift paddles, and lightweight interior trim contribute to a 15 kg weight reduction compared to the M3 Competition Touring with M xDrive.

Distinctive Design and Functional Styling

The BMW M3 CS Touring G81 blends track-focused performance with the versatility of a Touring model. The spacious cargo area expands from 500 liters to 1,510 liters, offering practicality alongside high-performance capabilities.

Exterior color options include British Racing Green, Laguna Seca Blue, Frozen Solid White, and Sapphire Black metallic. The gloss-black roof and roof spoiler add a refined contrast, while a red-accented roof spoiler further enhances its dynamic appeal.

The frameless BMW M kidney grille features black model lettering bordered by a red contour line. LED headlights with yellow-tinted daytime running lights, reminiscent of GT racing cars, provide a distinctive front-end appearance.

Driver-Centric Cockpit with Digital Integration

The interior of the BMW M3 CS Touring G81 is crafted for high-performance driving. Electrically adjustable and heated M Carbon bucket seats with an illuminated CS badge come standard. The seats are upholstered in Merino leather with an exclusive Black/Red color scheme.

A three-spoke M Alcantara steering wheel with a flat-bottom design features a red center marker at the 12 o’clock position. Additional M-specific interior details include red CS badging, M seat belts, and illuminated door sill plates.

The M Setup button allows for customizable drivetrain and chassis settings, while M Drive Professional integrates track-optimized features, including the M Drift Analyser and M Laptimer. The M Mode button enables adjustments between ROAD, SPORT, and TRACK driving modes.

The latest BMW iDrive system, based on Operating System 8.5, is accessible via the 12.3-inch instrument cluster and 14.9-inch central touchscreen. The system incorporates BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant for intuitive touch and voice control.

Technology and Comfort Features

The BMW M3 CS Touring G81 comes equipped with BMW Live Cockpit Professional, featuring BMW Maps navigation, smartphone integration, and wireless charging. Additional features include:

  • BMW Head-Up Display with M-specific graphics

  • Harman Kardon Surround Sound System
