Xiaomi SU7 Ultra Prototype Unveiling

Xiaomi Auto revealed the full carbon Xiaomi SU7 Ultra prototype at the 2024 Annual Speech by Xiaomi founder Lei Jun. This prototype is the first to feature Xiaomi's new HyperEngine V8s.

Powerful Engine Specifications

The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra prototype is equipped with three Xiaomi-developed motors: two V8s and one V6s motor, delivering a maximum horsepower of 1548, surpassing luxury sports cars like the 1,479 hp Bugatti Chiron.

HyperEngine V8s Performance

Xiaomi's HyperEngine V8s offers a maximum speed of 27,200 rpm, a maximum horsepower of 578, and a peak torque of 635 Nm, making it the most powerful motor produced by Xiaomi. The SU7 Ultra also includes a CATL’s Qilin 2.0 high-power battery dedicated to racing, with a maximum output of 1330 kW, capable of discharging 880 kW of power even at 20% SoC.

Advanced Battery Technology

CATL’s Qilin batteries utilize iron phosphate (LFP) chemistry. The SU7 Ultra supports 897V charging and a 5.2C charge rate, allowing it to be recharged in less than 12 minutes.

High-Performance Braking System

The vehicle features AP Racing high-performance brake calipers specifically designed for racing, with six-piston forged fixed calipers at the front and rear, and racing brake pads that withstand working temperatures over 800 degrees. Additionally, the motor reverse feature for brake energy recovery provides a maximum of 0.6G braking force recovery, with a 0-100 km/h braking distance of only 25 meters.

Impressive Acceleration and Speed

The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 1.97 seconds and 0 to 200 km/h in 5.97 seconds, reaching a top speed of 300 km/h in 15 seconds. The vehicle's maximum speed is 350 km/h, and it weighs just under 1,900 kg.

Aerodynamic Design Enhancements

The SU7 Ultra’s design differs significantly from the standard SU7, featuring a massive carbon fiber rear wing generating up to 2,145 kg of downforce. Other modifications include two large front vents and enlarged front splitter and side skirts for improved aerodynamics.

Dimensions and Body Specifications

The car measures 5260/2064/1406 mm, with a wheelbase of 3000 mm. The SU7 Ultra is wider and longer than the standard SU7 due to its performance body kit, while retaining the same wheelbase.

Ambitious Nürburgring Record Attempt

Xiaomi aims to set a new record for a four-door electric sedan at the Nürburgring. The current fastest electric car is the Volkswagen ID.R with a lap time of 6:05.336 minutes, and the fastest four-door electric car is the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT with a lap time of 7:07.55 minutes. Xiaomi plans to break this record at the Nürburgring Nordschleife track in October.

Future Prospects

Xiaomi currently sells the standard Xiaomi SU7 in China and is road-testing its second retail model. While it's unknown if the SU7 Ultra will be road certified, its 1578 hp and maximum speed of 350 km/h position it as the world’s fastest four-door car, surpassing models like the 1247 hp Zeekr 001 FR and 1287 hp BYD’s YangWang U9.
