Design that Stands Out Polestar’s commitment to design is evident in the Polestar 4, which continues to showcase features first seen in the Polestar Precept concept car. These include the removal of the rear window for a more immersive rear passenger experience and the striking dual blade front lights with a distinct Polestar light signature. Plus, the lit-up Polestar emblem adds a touch of finesse.
Aerodynamic efficiency is elevated through the low nose, retractable door handles, flush glazing with frameless windows, rear aero blades, and optimized airflow around the rear light bar. Built on Geely Holding’s premium Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA), the Polestar 4 is a D-segment SUV coupé with a spacious body and an extended 2,999 mm wheelbase. The vehicle measures 4,839 mm in length, 2,139 mm in width, and 1,544 mm in height.
Inviting Interior Inside, the Polestar 4 offers generous proportions, particularly in the rear, where passengers can enjoy reclining seats in a cozy environment. Adjustable ambient lighting, inspired by the solar system, allows drivers to personalize their experience. The standard full-length glass roof can be upgraded with optional electrochromic functionality, enabling it to become opaque or transparent based on preference.
In a distinctive twist, the glass roof extends beyond the rear passengers’ heads, thanks to the removal of the rear window. This creates a truly unique interior atmosphere. A secondary media and climate control screen is mounted between the front seats, enabling rear passengers to manage their settings.
In place of the rear-view mirror, a high-definition screen displays a real-time feed from a roof-mounted rear camera, offering a wider field of view than most modern cars. The digital feed can be deactivated to allow drivers to see rear passengers if needed.
Maximilian Missoni, Head of Design at Polestar, shares his thoughts on the design: “With Polestar Precept, we previewed a stunning new occupant experience by removing the rear window and pushing the rear header, which plays an integral safety role, further back. This means that now, rear occupants can have a unique experience in our SUV coupé.”
The ‘soft tech’ theme, inspired by the fashion and sportswear industries, is reflected in the interior and material choices for the Polestar 4. New exterior colors Storm and Electron, along with a novel interior color, Mist, introduce fresh options for this remarkable vehicle.
Eco-Friendly Innovations The Polestar 4 embraces sustainable materials and practices, boasting a full lifecycle assessment (LCA) and a Product Sustainability Declaration in 2024. Interior components adopt a mono-material approach, allowing for efficient recycling, as seen in the 2022 Polestar electric roadster concept. Cutting-edge materials, such as 100% recycled PET knit textile, bio-attributed MicroTech vinyl, and ethically-sourced Nappa leather, are introduced for a sustainable driving experience.
In partnership with the Swedish School of Textiles, Polestar has developed tailored knit upholstery with minimal waste. Interior inlay carpets utilize recycled PET, while floor carpets feature ECONYL, a material that repurposes discarded fishing nets. Specific door trim panels employ natural fibre polypropylene (NFPP), reducing virgin plastic content and saving up to 40% in weight.
Performance Unleashed Polestar 4 is the brand’s fastest production car, reaching 0-100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds[1] and delivering a maximum power output of 400 kW (544 hp). The vehicle offers exceptional driving dynamics, thrilling handling, and responsive steering. Available in both dual- and single-motor configurations, the Polestar 4 caters to various preferences.
For enhanced control and confidence, the dual-motor version features a semi-active suspension and wheel sizes ranging from 20 to 22 inches. A 102 kWh battery powers long-range versions, with the dual-motor variant boasting 400 kW (544 hp), 686 Nm, and a preliminary range target of up to 560 km WLTP[2]. Efficient charging and a motorized charge lid, as well as bi-directional charging with vehicle-to-load (V2L) capability, further elevate the EV experience.
Drivers can optimize performance by choosing between range or performance driving modes in the long-range dual-motor version. Performance mode maximizes responsiveness and power delivery, while range mode focuses on efficiency, engaging only the rear motor. The long-range single-motor version features a 200 kW (272 hp), 343 Nm rear motor and a preliminary range target of up to 600 km WLTP[2].
Cutting-Edge Tech Polestar 4 is at the forefront of technology, featuring a 15.4-inch landscape-oriented infotainment screen powered by Android Automotive OS and the Snapdragon Cockpit Platform. Integrated Google services like Google Assistant, Google Maps, and Google Play ensure a seamless connected experience. The optional Harman Kardon audio system delivers premium sound with up to 16 speakers, and Apple CarPlay is naturally included. Regular over-the-air (OTA) updates keep the vehicle’s software up to date without needing a workshop visit.
Safety First Polestar 4’s safety features are a testament to its strong ties to Volvo Cars. Equipped with up to nine airbags and Mobileye’s SuperVision Advanced Driver Assistance System, the vehicle’s safety technology is top-notch. A total of 12 cameras, one radar, and 12 ultrasonic sensors provide a comprehensive safety net. The driver monitoring system, using a camera and hands-on detection in the steering wheel, helps prevent incidents related to fatigue or distraction.
Convenient Displays The 10.2-inch driver display provides essential information, while the head-up display (HUD) projects key vehicle, telephony, and navigation details onto the windshield to minimize distraction. An optional Pilot Pack includes enhanced Pilot Assist with lane change assistance, activated by a simple tap of the indicator stalk.
Tailored Packages Polestar 4 offers high standard specifications, with additional packages to enhance the driving experience. The Plus Pack focuses on comfort and technology upgrades, while the Plus Pro Pack adds color-coordinated body elements, electrochromic glass roof, and extra interior lighting. The Nappa Pack, combined with the Plus Pack, includes ethically-sourced Nappa leather upholstery, seat ventilation, massage functions, and extra headrest speakers.
