McLaren will honor its founder, Bruce McLaren, at the 2023 Goodwood Festival of Speed. This event will highlight McLaren’s legacy since its inception in 1963, including its triumphs in motorsport’s ‘Triple Crown’—the Indianapolis 500, Monaco Grand Prix, and Le Mans 24 Hours. In addition to celebrating its past, McLaren Automotive will present the future, featuring the global dynamic debuts of two new models on the Goodwood Hillclimb and showcasing other iconic cars.
Headline Models: 750S and Solus GT
The 2024 McLaren Artura, a high-performance hybrid V6 supercar, will be a key highlight. However, the centerpiece of McLaren’s presence will be the 750S, a supercar powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine. This engine delivers 750PS and 800Nm of torque, combined with new lightweight components, resulting in a power-to-weight ratio of up to 587PS-per-tonne. The 750S accelerates from 0-100km/h in 2.8 seconds and 0-200km/h in 7.2 seconds, offering a dynamic driving experience with its Proactive Chassis Control linked-hydraulic suspension, PCC III.
The Solus GT, a track-only car developed from a concept in the Gran Turismo SPORT video game, will also be showcased. This model, limited to 25 units, features a naturally aspirated 5.2-litre V10 engine that exceeds 10,000rpm. Producing 840PS and 650Nm of torque, the Solus GT achieves 0-100km/h in 2.5 seconds and a top speed of over 200mph. Its aerodynamic design, refined through wind-tunnel research and CFD, generates over 1,200kg of downforce.
McLaren House and Racing Heritage
Visitors to McLaren House at the festival can explore the brand’s rich history, including the first Solus GT production car. This space will also host other McLaren models participating in the Goodwood Hillclimb, such as the Artura, McLaren’s first V6 hybrid supercar, alongside the P1™ hypercar, marking its tenth anniversary.
McLaren Racing Moments
Throughout the festival, a ‘McLaren Moment’ will take place daily, featuring some of McLaren’s most iconic racing machines in a moving display on the Hillclimb. Notable appearances include Mika Häkkinen driving the MP4/14, Bruno Senna in Ayrton Senna’s 1991 World Championship-winning MP4/6, and JJ Lehto in Lewis Hamilton’s 2008 MP4/23 F1 Championship winner.
McLaren Customer Racing and Artura Trophy Race Car
McLaren Customer Racing cars will also be featured, including models like the 12C GT3, 650S GT3, 570S GT4, and the new Artura Trophy race car. The 720S GT3 X, which won the 2021 timed shootout, will also make an appearance.
