Introducing the Luxurious 2024 Lexus LM: A Mobile Space to Inspire Positive Thought and Action
Lexus, the luxury automotive brand that has always treasured the spirit of innovation, is proud to announce the world premiere of the all-new 2024 Lexus LM at Auto Shanghai 2023. This second-generation luxury MPV will be launched in over 60 countries worldwide, including for the first time in Europe and Japan. The model aims to enrich the customer lifestyle with its progressive design and technology.
Responding to customer aspirations for chauffeur-driven MPVs in China and Asia, the first-generation Lexus LM was launched in 2020, offering both 4-seat and 7-seat configurations. However, with the changing needs and desires of the global luxury market, the new LM has been completely redesigned and reevaluated to provide a better “Luxury Mover” experience.
The engineering and design team’s core objective was to create a vehicle that offered an interior space and dynamic experience where all passengers could feel comfortable. The new LM provides core ride comfort and functionality, direct and precise maneuverability, and a lack of unwanted noise and vibrations for the rear-seat passengers, allowing them to feel refreshed and productive.
The exterior design of the LM is elegant and aerodynamic, reflecting function and dynamic performance. The front cabin design combines practicality with refinement, while the spacious rear suite offers meticulously crafted seats and trim alongside various features and technology to make the most of passengers’ precious travel time.
Takami Yokoo, the new Lexus LM chief engineer, explains, “The inspiration for the development of the new Lexus LM was the increasingly diverse lifestyles of customers in the luxury segment. Our goal was to provide an environment that would allow busy individuals to relax in mind and body, free from the hustle and bustle of their daily lives—a space to inspire positive thought and action.”
The development team’s passion and care went into every detail of the vehicle, from the thoroughly honed chassis and body to the high-quality tailored interior and numerous comfort features. They also worked hard to provide driving dynamics that are faithful to the driver’s intentions, creating a feeling of security and refinement that is transmitted to rear-seat passengers.
The 2024 Lexus LM is not only designed for China and Asia but is also aimed at the global luxury market, providing a mobile space where customers can be their true selves. The new LM is expected to launch with an exciting price range that will be announced soon. Stay tuned to know more about the 2024 Lexus LM, the perfect Luxury Mover.
The All-New 2024 Lexus LM: Offering Unmatched Ride Comfort and a Quiet Interior
The 2024 Lexus LM has been designed to offer a comfortable ride for all passengers. The development focused on ride quality worthy of a flagship MPV, and as a result, the torsional rigidity is 50% higher than that of the current model. The engineering team worked on improving core strength and securing body rigidity by adding braces on the radiator support and rear underfloor, a straight rocker structure, and quarter pillar reinforcement. Structural adhesive was also used for the upper body and floor to reduce vibration. The LM’s front seats optimize surface pressure distribution on the seat cushion to hold the body, regardless of the amount of G-force during turning. For the second-row seats, two types of shock-absorbing materials were used to gently envelop and support the passengers. The AVS Suspension with Frequency-Sensitive Piston Valve ensures an excellent ride quality, and a “Rear Comfort” drive mode enables an emphasis on rear-seat comfort.
Special attention was paid to creating a natural and comfortable sense of quietness in the new LM. Noise frequency bandwidths and noise sources were analyzed, resulting in a 3-step approach to noise reduction: reducing generated noise (source noise), preventing noise from entering the vehicle (sound insulation), and reducing noise inside the vehicle (sound absorption). The engine, one of the primary sources of noise and vibration, and the related mounts received thorough tuning, and cabin noise was greatly reduced by placing carefully calculated amounts and thicknesses of sound-absorbing, sound-insulating, and vibration-damping materials in appropriate places throughout the vehicle.
The LM’s exterior design reflects functional purity and dynamic performance. The spacious cabin offers maximum passenger space, while the emphasize on the front and rear wheels evokes excellent driving performance and ride comfort. The front design further evolves the Spindle Body, the identity of Lexus. A spacious interior incorporating the Lexus Tazuna Cockpit concept creates an environment where the driver can concentrate on driving. The 6- and 7-seat versions focus on a spacious feel and excellent visibility, while the 4-seat model offers personalization and privacy, featuring a partition equipped with a striking 48-inch wide-screen display in front of the rear seats.
The 2024 Lexus LM offers a naturally relaxing indoor environment that meets the diverse needs of customers. It has been developed with an emphasis on creating a relaxing, lounge-like environment by taking advantage of the generous interior height of the vehicle, characterized by clean horizontal and vertical lines. The interior colors conjure up a sophisticated contemporary feel, and every component of the interior has been designed to reduce visual noise, resulting in a relaxing environment for all passengers.
The 2024 Lexus LM is expected to launch with an exciting price range that will be announced soon. Keep an eye out for this luxurious MPV that offers unmatched ride comfort and a quiet interior.
Comfortable and Elegant Interior Features of the 2024 Lexus LM
The new 2024 Lexus LM has been designed to ensure a comfortable and luxurious ride for all passengers. With large aperture sliding doors that are typical of an MPV, the focus was on securing body rigidity within the vehicle framework to ensure a comfortable and relaxing ride. The vehicle’s core strength was improved by increasing its torsional rigidity by 50% compared to the current model. This was achieved through the use of structural elements such as braces on the radiator support and rear underfloor, a straight rocker structure, and quarter pillar reinforcement. To reduce vibrations, structural adhesive was used for the upper body and floor.
The seats were developed with passenger comfort in mind, ensuring a relaxed state for both the body and mind, regardless of the seating position. Special attention was given to reducing head movement and stabilizing the line of sight. The front seats optimize surface pressure distribution on the seat cushion to hold the body, regardless of the amount of G-force during turning. The second-row seats are designed to gently envelop and support passengers with two types of shock-absorbing materials with different characteristics. The thick seat backs and cushions in models with third-row seats allow adults to sit comfortably.
The 2024 Lexus LM features the “AVS Suspension with Frequency-Sensitive Piston Valve,” a first in a Lexus vehicle. The system combines an Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) actuator and a frequency-sensitive piston valve in the shock absorber to provide excellent ride quality, regardless of speed, by meticulously dampening and reducing vibration over a wide range of frequencies. The vehicle also offers a “Rear Comfort” drive mode that prioritizes rear-seat comfort, while integrated control of the gas pedal and brake reduces posture changes during acceleration and deceleration.
The new LM’s quietness is another feature that has been given special attention. The vehicle’s noise frequency bandwidths and noise sources were analyzed, and a 3-step approach to noise reduction was implemented. This approach involved reducing generated noise (source noise), preventing noise from entering the vehicle (sound insulation), and reducing noise inside the vehicle (sound absorption). The layered structure of the roof headlining has been intentionally made non-sound-absorbent to create a pleasant and natural level of quietness.
The LM’s exterior design reflects next-generation Lexus design goals, creating a unique identity through proportions that reflect functional purity and dynamic performance. The LM’s unique form is dynamic, elegant, and graceful, with emphasis on the front and rear wheels that evoke excellent driving performance and ride comfort. The front design further evolves the Spindle Body, the identity of Lexus, and contributes to aerodynamic performance, cooling performance, and maneuverability.
The LM’s interior is designed to offer maximum passenger space and a relaxing, lounge-like environment. The 6- and 7-seat versions focus on a spacious feel and excellent visibility, while the 4-seat model is designed for dedicated use as a chauffeur-driven MPV. A partition separates the front and rear seats, with a retractable glass window that offers two levels of privacy without sacrificing a feeling of airiness. The upper portion of the partition houses a large 48-inch widescreen display that can be used for a variety of purposes, and a refrigerator and storage spaces are located under the display.
Passengers can choose from 64 illumination colors, including 14 themed colors and 50 custom colors, to create a relaxing atmosphere. The “Rear Climate Concierge” is a Lexus first that provides integrated control of elements such as air-conditioning, seat position, sunshades, and lighting to help create an optimal cabin environment for passengers. The rear multi-operation panel is a detachable touch-screen controller that can be used to control a variety of rear-seat functions, including “.
