Kia America presented two new concept vehicles, including the "2024 Kia PV5 WKNDR Concept," at the 2024 SEMA Show in Las Vegas.
The Kia PV5 WKNDR Concept EV Van is based on Kia's Purpose Beyond Vehicle (PBV) platform, specifically designed for small business needs and delivery use cases.
The PV5 WKNDR Concept features off-road tires, a lifted chassis, and a highly flexible interior, making it suitable for outdoor and extended nature trips.
The van includes a "Gear Head" storage solution, allowing off-board gear storage when stationary, maximizing interior space and enhancing accessibility.
The "Gear Head" storage can also be used as a mobile pantry, supporting outdoor cooking and other activities during extended stays.
Solar panels and hydro turbine wheels on the PV5 WKNDR allow the batteries to recharge independently, promoting self-sufficiency for off-grid adventures.
An onboard compressor in the PV5 WKNDR EV Van supports inflating tires or mattresses, catering to a range of outdoor and camping needs.
Kia’s "Beyond Organization" concept, also presented at SEMA, integrates a "plug-and-play" solution to simplify gear management and improve setup times for campers.
The "Beyond Organization" approach highlights Kia’s goal of making gear setup and breakdown more efficient, aiming to reduce common organization challenges for active lifestyle users.
Both the PV5 WKNDR EV Van and Beyond Organization concepts emphasize Kia’s focus on sustainable, adaptable, and user-centered vehicle solutions for adventure and utility.
PV5 WKNDR Concept EV Van
The PV5 WKNDR EV Van is built upon Kia’s Purpose Beyond Vehicle (PBV) line, which is tailored for small business and delivery applications. This versatile electric van is designed for outdoor enthusiasts, with off-road tires and a lifted chassis that make it an ideal companion for extended nature escapes. It features a modular, adaptable interior that maximizes space and functionality, resembling a Swiss Army Knife on wheels. One standout feature, the "Gear Head," is a unique storage solution that offers sheltered, off-board space for gear, freeing up the interior and providing easy access to items when stationary. This space can also transform into a mobile pantry for cooking, catering to adventurous travelers who enjoy "cooking with a view."
Self-sufficiency is a core aspect of the PV5 WKNDR EV Van, which includes solar panels and hydro turbine wheels that recharge the batteries. Practical touches such as an onboard compressor allow for tire pressure adjustments on rugged trails or inflating mattresses when camping, showcasing the van’s adaptability to various outdoor needs.
Beyond Organization Concept
Kia’s display at SEMA also featured the "Beyond Organization" concept, focusing on efficient gear management for active lifestyles. This design integrates "plug-and-play" solutions that simplify gear setup and breakdown, addressing common pain points for campers and adventure enthusiasts. This concept highlights Kia’s commitment to providing seamless, organized solutions, aiming to save customers time and enhance the overall outdoor experience.
