Ford takes a momentous step by officially entering the global FIA GT3 category with the Mustang GT3 race car. The last time Ford triumphed at the 24 Hours of Le Mans was in 2016 with the Ford GT, solidifying a historic bond between Ford and the prestigious race. However, this time around, Ford’s return to Le Mans signifies more than just a battle against Ferrari; it’s Ford versus the world. This endeavor represents the beginning of a global motorsports venture for Mustang, similar to the success achieved with Bronco and Raptor off-road vehicles, as stated by Jim Farley, CEO of Ford Motor Company.
Revealing a Fresh Branding and New Logo Simultaneously, Ford introduces its new global Ford Performance branding, sporting a cleaner and simplified look that will adorn all its racing vehicles. This expressive and captivating new identity positions Ford Performance as a distinctive lifestyle brand with a passionate focus on sports. The new Ford Performance mark seamlessly integrates across various platforms, including car liveries, merchandise, display assets, and advertising, amplifying its impact.
Continuing Trusted Partnerships Ford Performance has extended its partnerships with two trusted allies, Multimatic and M-Sport, for the foundation of the Mustang GT3 project. Multimatic, renowned for building the iconic Ford GT, brings their expertise from the Ford GT race program to assist in the construction and support of the Mustang GT3s. Meanwhile, M-Sport, a long-standing partner in the World Rally Championship with two championship titles, assembles the potent Ford Performance-developed 5.4-liter Coyote-based V8 engines that power this remarkable pony.
Purpose-Built for GT3 Excellence The Ford Mustang GT3 race car incorporates a custom short-long arm suspension, rear-mounted transaxle gearbox, and lightweight carbon fiber body panels. To meet the rigorous GT3 targets, the Mustang GT3 features a unique aerodynamic package meticulously developed for optimal performance.
