2023 Seat Ibiza Marina Pack Edition
SEAT collaborates with SEAQUAL INITIATIVE and Autoneum to promote sustainability and preserve natural resources.
The SEAT Ibiza and Arona models are getting special editions called Marina Pack, which incorporate eco-friendly materials.
These special editions feature seat trim covers made with SEAQUAL® YARN, derived from upcycled marine plastic.
All versions of the SEAT Ibiza and Arona now include LABEL blue by BORGERS® recycled materials from marine plastics in their floors and carpets.
SEAQUAL INITIATIVE and LABEL blue by BORGERS® work with various stakeholders to clean up marine litter from beaches, oceans, rivers, and estuaries.
Plastic waste collected from these areas is sorted, cleaned, and transformed into upcycled marine plastic for use in automotive applications.
SEAT's use of recycled materials contributes to the company's sustainability goals and helps in cleaning seas, rivers, and oceans.
Dr. Werner Tietz, Executive Vice-President for Research and Development at SEAT and CUPRA, emphasizes the importance of preserving the Mediterranean as a valuable natural resource.
The SEAT Ibiza and Arona Marina Pack, featuring the innovative eco-friendly materials, will begin production in June 2023.
These initiatives demonstrate SEAT's commitment to environmental stewardship and innovative solutions in the automotive industry.
SEAT, the renowned automotive brand, is proud to announce its continued collaboration with SEAQUAL INITIATIVE, an organization dedicated to promoting the circular economy and preserving natural resources in the Mediterranean and beyond. In addition, SEAT is embarking on a new partnership with Autoneum, making history as the first car manufacturer to incorporate LABEL blue by BORGERS® recycled materials, which will help remove over 2 million plastic bottles from the ocean each year.
As part of these initiatives, SEAT is enhancing the sustainability of its popular models, the Ibiza and Arona, by introducing special editions known as the Marina Pack. These exclusive editions feature seat trim covers made with SEAQUAL® YARN, a revolutionary material derived from upcycled marine plastic. Furthermore, all versions of the SEAT Ibiza and Arona now include LABEL blue by BORGERS® recycled materials sourced from marine plastics, which are integrated into the floors and carpets.
SEAQUAL INITIATIVE and LABEL blue by BORGERS® work closely with NGOs, fishermen, authorities, and local communities to tackle marine litter. Through dedicated clean-up programs, plastic waste is collected from beaches, ocean floors, rivers, and estuaries. The collected plastic is carefully sorted, cleaned, and transformed into upcycled marine plastic, which is then utilized to produce SEAQUAL® YARN for seat trim covers and LABEL blue by BORGERS® polyester marine fibers for floors and carpets.
Dr. Werner Tietz, Executive Vice-President for Research and Development at SEAT and CUPRA, expressed the company’s commitment to sustainability and innovative solutions. He stated, “SEAT is dedicated to achieving our sustainability goals and finding innovative solutions. Projects like the use of recycled materials not only help us accomplish our objectives but also contribute to the ongoing effort of cleaning our seas, rivers, and oceans. Our partnership with SEAQUAL INITIATIVE and Autoneum underscores our determination to preserve the invaluable natural resource that is the Mediterranean.”
Production of the SEAT Ibiza and Arona Marina Pack, featuring seat trim made with SEAQUAL® YARN and floors and carpets incorporating LABEL blue by BORGERS® recycled polyester fibers from marine plastics, is scheduled to commence in June 2023. Stay tuned for these exciting and sustainable editions that demonstrate SEAT’s commitment to environmental stewardship.
