Combined with the feline posture characteristic of all PEUGEOT cars, the formal language of the New 408 is perfectly in line with its innovative concept of the high-end Fastback of the C segment . It is characterized by a particularly clear surface treatment, which is particularly noticeable at the rear, at the edge of the roof, in the trunk lid and at the base of the fenders. A set that creates sharp facets designed to play with light.

New 408 is based on its own external architecture. Built on the EMP2 (Efficient Modular Platform) multi-energy platform, it has a wheelbase of 2.79 m which allows for generous space for the rear seats. The total length of the car is 4.69m and the width of 1.86m , measured with the mirrors folded down.

The tracks are wide, with the front one of 1.59 m and a rear one of 1.60 m, to obtain an excellent attitude on the road, thanks also to large diameter wheels (720mm) with rims up to 20 inches. Despite being raised, the PEUGEOT 408 still has a slim and sporty profile, thanks to a height of only 1.48 m.

3. EXCITING driving experience: the PEUGEOT i-Cockpit®

Inside the cockpit, the PEUGEOT i-Cockpit® is one of the strong points of the House of the Lion. For a decade, it has been enriched and updated with each new generation. With the arrival of the new PEUGEOT 408, it sets new levels in terms of ergonomics, quality, practicality and technology, thanks to its new infotainment system, the PEUGEOT i-Connect®.

The compact steering wheel is a feature of the PEUGEOT i-Cockpit® and increases driving pleasure tenfold by offering unique agility and vehicle control. The steering wheel of the Nuova 408 is ergonomic and heated (on request) and houses the controls for the multimedia system (radio, telephone) as well as some driving aids.

The new digital instrument cluster, positioned in line with the view of the road, just above the steering wheel, integrates a 10-inch digital screen starting at the Allure level. In the GT version, the instrument panel is available with 3D technology . Fully parameterizable and customizable, the display has different viewing modes (3D Connected Navigation with TomTom traffic services, Radio / Media, ADAS driving aids, Energy flows…) directly modifiable from the multifunction control.

The construction of the dashboard of the New PEUGEOT 408 is based on the “high-vent” architecture that places the air conditioning vents in front of the occupants’ heads, an optimal location for the comfort of the driver and passengers.

To improve vibration-related comfort, the rigidity of the body has been optimized by bonding the structural elements. Driving pleasure is more than ever inherent in the DNA of this new PEUGEOT 408 which has exemplary road holding, decidedly superior driving comfort and offers excellent driving pleasure and perfect handling in the city, thanks to a radius 11.18 m curb turn.

The new PEUGEOT 408 can be equipped with tires from 17 to 20 inches , Class A and A + for the purpose of rolling efficiency, without compromising anything on the road behavior of the car, which has always been a reference for the Lion brand.

Two plug-in hybrid engines are available on the New PEUGEOT 408:

• HYBRID 225 e-EAT8 / 2-wheel drive / a 180 hp (132 kW) PureTech engine is combined with a 110 hp (81 kW) electric motor, both managed by an 8-speed e-EAT8 automatic transmission / performance data in homologation course.
• HYBRID 180 e-EAT8 / 2 wheel drive / a 150hp (110kW) PureTech engine is combined with a 110hp (81kW) electric motor, both managed by an 8-speed e-EAT8 automatic transmission / performance data in homologation course.

The lithium-ion battery has in both cases a capacity of 12.4 kWh and a power of 102 kW. There are two types of on-board chargers to suit all customer uses and charging solutions. There is a 3.7 kW single-phase charger as standard, and a 7.4 kW single-phase charger as an option.

The estimated charging times are as follows:

• a 7.4 kW Wallbox (32 A) with the 7.4 kW single-phase on-board charger allows a complete recharge in 1h40
• from an enhanced socket (14 A) with the 3.7 kW single-phase on-board charger, you have a complete recharge in 3h55
• from a standard Shuko domestic socket (8A), using the 3.7 kW single-phase on-board charger you have a complete recharge in 7h05.

Designed as a high-end Fastback in segment C, the New PEUGEOT 408 offers a wide range of equipment designed to fully enjoy the pleasure of traveling and mobility.

The front seats are particularly comfortable and have been awarded the AGR (Aktion für Gesunder Rücken) label from an independent German association of ergonomics and spine health experts. This label rewards the ergonomics and range of adjustments of the front seats.

The seats can be equipped with 10-way electric adjustments with two possible memorizations for the driver and 6-way electric adjustments for the passenger. They also have an 8-pocket pneumatic massage system with 5 different programs and a heating function.

The design of the seats has been conceived to enhance the quality of the materials used: melange fabric, technical knitted fabric, Alcantara®, padded leather and colored Nappa. On the GT versions, the seats feature a signature with an Adamite color thread that highlights the dashboard, door panels and padded parts of the console.

Between the front seats, the central console arch extends to a compartment dedicated to wireless smartphone charging. The rest of the console is dedicated to storage compartments and practicality, with an armrest, two USB C sockets (recharge and recharge / data), two large diameter cup holders and numerous storage compartments for a volume of up to 33 liters.
