2022 Nissan Juke Hybrid
Nissan’s iconic compact crossover JUKE will soon add a new powertrain to its range with a hybrid engine, delivering high performance with low emissions and fuel economy. You can find more visual details of the 2022 Nissan Juke Hybrid gallery by scrolling up.
JUKE Hybrid will boast a true multi-mode hybrid engine, thus offering customers great benefits:
- always 100% electric ignition
- driving pleasure in all circumstances
- excellent energy efficiency with intelligent multi-mode shifting, effective regenerative braking and high-performance battery.
Central to the development of the hybrid engine was the importance that JUKE customers placed on a rewarding driving experience. The thrill of driving goes hand in hand with the new efficient, responsive and powerful engine.
Efficient engine thanks to the synergies of the Alliance
The new hybrid engine perfectly reflects the strengths of the Alliance in terms of engineering solutions.
JUKE’s hybrid engine is made up of a state-of-the-art new generation internal combustion engine from Nissan specially developed to run on hybrid engines, delivering 69 kW (94 hp) and 148 Nm of torque.
For the electric powertrain, on the other hand, Nissan supplied the main electric motor that delivers 36 kW (49 hp) and 205 Nm torque, while Renault contributed the 15kW high voltage starter / generator, with the inverter, with the 1.2 kWh water-cooled battery and the highly innovative gearbox. The result is an engine that delivers 25% more power than the current petrol engine, with fuel consumption reduced by up to 40% in the urban cycle and up to 20% in the combined cycle (data subject to final approval).
Intelligent automatic gearbox
Crucial to the driving pleasure of the Nissan JUKE Hybrid is the advanced low-friction multi-mode gearbox that allows you to make the most of the propulsive power of the petrol or electric engine or both.
To reduce friction, the gearbox uses toothed couplings instead of the traditional synchronizer rings for the 4 “ICE” and 2 “EV” gears. Furthermore, again to reduce friction, the gearbox does not use the clutch. The starting is 100% electric and the 2 motors are used together to synchronize the gears, offering smooth, connected and responsive acceleration.
The gearbox is controlled by an advanced algorithm, which manages the shift points, battery regeneration and the advanced series-parallel architecture. The engine optimizes the use of the various possible types of hybridization (series, parallel, series-parallel) – smoothly and without driver intervention – based on acceleration and power requirements. This gives the driver trouble-free, responsive acceleration and low-emission efficiency, taking advantage of the best of both worlds.
Almost 100% electric driving experience
The JUKE Hybrid’s intelligent driving system manages the powertrain according to various parameters, with the aim of maximizing the time JUKE travels in electric mode. During testing, Nissan’s engineers achieved up to 80% urban driving in 100% electric mode, with short hybrid phases to recharge the battery, before reverting to EV mode. The JUKE Hybrid not only always starts in 100% electric mode, but can also maintain it up to a speed of 55km / h, giving drivers a strong, consistent and sustained electric driving experience.

The system automatically takes full advantage of the electric, but the JUKE Hybrid also has a dedicated “EV Mode” button that can be used when the driver wants to “exclude” the petrol engine by driving only electric, such as in residential areas or built-up areas. at schools or car parks, and in case of heavy traffic. If the state of charge of the battery allows it, the system will force the JUKE Hybrid to operate as a 100% electric vehicle.
Regenerative braking
When slowing down, the electric motor acts as a generator, capturing the kinetic energy and turning it into electricity to be stored in the battery for hybrid propulsion.
The advanced Regenerative Cooperative Brake function combines regenerative braking with the friction of traditional braking to achieve a natural feel to pedal pressure and efficient energy recovery. The driver does not even notice the cooperation between the two systems, since the feedback he receives from the brake pedal is always constant and intuitive.
JUKE Hybrid also has a selector that allows you to choose between various driving modes: Eco, Normal or Sport. Drive mode changes not only steering stiffness, climate control operation and throttle response, but also regenerative braking behavior and battery charge status. In Sport mode, for example, braking regeneration is set to high levels to maximize electric power and achieve effective acceleration.
e-Pedal for a smooth urban ride
Like LEAF and ARIYA, both 100% electric, the JUKE Hybrid will also be equipped with the Nissan e-Pedal, which, when activated, allows you to control the car’s progress using the accelerator pedal. When you take your foot off the accelerator, moderate braking is activated (up to 0.15g) which causes JUKE to decelerate to minimum speed (approximately 5km / h). To bring the vehicle to a complete stop it is always necessary to use the brake pedal (in addition, the Auto Hold function can be selected). The use of the e-Pedal quickly becomes intuitive. Its purpose is to reduce the driver’s workload in urban driving and offers a smooth and relaxed driving experience, maximizing the possibilities of regenerating the hybrid battery, further enhancing the electric experience.

2022 Nissan Juke Hybrid Exterior Detail
Changes to the exterior design
The new hybrid version retains JUKE’s sporty crossover coupé design. Great attention has been paid to detail and introduced a series of small changes to optimize aerodynamic efficiency, giving a distinctive identity to the hybrid versions within the traditional JUKE range. The “Hybrid” badges have in fact been applied on the front doors and on the tailgate.
The JUKE Hybrid’s front grille has a high-gloss black trim and features the new Nissan logo on the inside, echoing the same design motif as other Nissan electrified models.
The design of the grille itself is now mesh, with a texture that optimizes aerodynamic efficiency, a configuration made possible by the lower cooling requirements of the hybrid version. Changes have also been made to the bodywork under the bumper to improve air flow and a radiator grille closure system has been added, which allows the air flow to be automatically varied according to cooling needs, reducing as much as possible aerodynamic resistance.
The rear spoiler has been re-profiled to allow the rear window to benefit from cleaner airflow. For the same reason, the wheel arches located on the front wheels have also been remodeled and repositioned, while the rear has been enriched with a cover to facilitate the passage of air under the vehicle.
Also making their debut are 17 “alloy wheels with the new two-tone design and 19” aerodynamic wheels derived from NISSAN Ariya, for greater visual impact and efficiency.
New for the interior
A visual representation of the power flow appears on the 7 ”combimeter display located between the two quadrants: the energy flows are represented in a simple and clear animation that allows the driver to understand perfectly how the system works.

The e-Pedal button is located in the center console, behind that of the electric parking brake, while the button to activate the 100% electric mode is located between two of the central air vents. When the e-Pedal and EV Mode are activated, a visual reminder appears at the bottom of the combimeter display.
The trunk has a capacity of 354 liters, with a small reduction of 68 liters compared to the petrol version, due to the size of the 1.2 kWh battery. With the rear seats folded down, the trunk maintains the best-in-class capacity at 1,237 liters, while knee room remains unchanged at 553mm.
