The new TUCSON, launched on the market in January 2021, sets new standards in the SUV segment thanks to an incredible array of cutting-edge smart tech technologies, limitless connectivity and the most advanced driving assistance and active safety systems. The Plug-In Hybrid system now adds improved fuel efficiency by ensuring maximum driving enjoyment thanks to the powerful combination of a 1.6-liter T-GDi Smartstream third-generation petrol engine and a 66.9 kW electric motor. The powertrain has a combined output of 265hp and 350Nm of maximum torque, and features Hyundai’s unique Continuously Variable Valve Duration (CVVD) technology, which optimizes engine performance and fuel efficiency. Efficiency is also maximized by an Active Air Flap, which regulates the air intake depending on the engine coolant temperature, driving speed and other factors. Thanks to a 13.8 kWh lithium-ion polymer battery, drivers can spontaneously switch to pure electric driving by pressing the dedicated button, thus benefiting from a completely zero emission range of up to 62 km (WLTP cycle) .

Equipped with a 7.2 kW on-board charger, the New TUCSON Plug-in Hybrid can be recharged both at the charging stations dedicated to electric vehicles and via a compatible domestic wall-box. Furthermore, by recharging the car via the wall-box, it is possible to establish the charging times remotely using the smartphone and the Bluelink® app and selecting the most economical consumption time slot to reduce expenses.

The engine is mated to a six-speed automatic gearbox (6AT) managed through the “shift-by-wire” system and four-wheel drive as standard. For an authentic SUV experience, all-wheel drive is standard on the New TUCSON Plug-in Hybrid with Hyundai’s 4WD HTRAC technology and a Terrain Mode selector, for safe driving even on rough terrain. The HTRAC system is capable of variably distributing power between the front and rear wheels, depending on the traction and driving conditions, while the Terrain Mode selector optimizes power, torque and braking according to the road condition selected by the driver. You can also switch between neutral, reverse and park simply by using the convenient buttons located in the center console.
