2022 Hyundai Tucson European Version
Instead of just further developing the successful mid-range SUV, which is important for the brand, designers and engineers have decided on a completely new start: Visual appearance and the technology used make the TUCSON look like a representative of a higher vehicle class – but the prices remain the same cheap level that customers know. In this way, the TUCSON will consolidate its position as one of the bestsellers of the Hyundai brand and even expand it: while around seven million units of the first three TUCSON models have been sold worldwide since 2004, the series will during the life cycle of its fourth generation become the Break the 10 million mark. Distinctive radiator grille with integrated daytime running lights and direction indicators
The most striking change compared to its predecessor is the design, which for the first time in a Hyundai SUV follows the new “Sensuous Sportiness” design philosophy. Geometric algorithms form the basis for a new design process that is carried out exclusively on the computer, which the Hyundai designers call “Parametric Dynamics” and which characterizes the entire design of the SUV. This look is particularly striking on the parametric radiator grille: the LED daytime running lights are hidden in it. If the daytime running lights are switched off, they integrate seamlessly into the diamond-cut look of the radiator grille and the front of the TUCSON appears as if it were cast in one piece. Only when the daytime running lights are switched on do the hidden, partially mirrored daytime running lights become visible. The fact that each of the five LED elements also functions as a flashing light.
At the rear, the wide taillights continue the design line. The new TUCSON’s rear bumper also incorporates a parametric pattern that echoes the design of the grille. Subtle design details at the rear include the rear window wiper hidden under the roof spoiler and the glass Hyundai logo on the rear window, which creates a three-dimensional impression.
Confident, dynamic and robust appearance
The same applies to the side view of the vehicle, where the designers have created five sharp character lines, some of which extend across several components and are therefore manufactured with great precision. The most striking thing here is the new Z-line on the rear side door, but the chrome-plated trim strip above the side windows and the accentuated, slightly angular wheel arches also make the new Hyundai TUCSON stand out from the crowd. The TUCSON is available with light-alloy wheels with a diameter of 17, 18 and 19 inches. With a length of 4,500 (+20) millimeters, a width of 1,865 (+15) millimeters and a roof height of 1,650 (+5) millimeters, the new TUCSON is comparatively compact, but still impresses with its convincing interior space.
Customers can choose from nine finishes, including three new shades: Shimmering Silver, Amazon Gray and Teal. In addition, the roof of the new TUCSON can be painted in Phantom Black or Dark Knight gray depending on the chosen exterior color.
The black roof is available with Amazon Grey, Teal, Polar White, Engine Red, Sunset Red and Dark Knight paint finishes, while the gray roof is selectable with Shimmering Silver, Phantom Black or Silky Bronze body finishes.

Generous digital interior with improved climate control
The new Hyundai TUCSON welcomes its driver and passengers with an interior that appears elegant, spacious, tidy, modern and high quality at the same time. The center console, which runs vertically and is set off in the interior, is inspired by a waterfall. The new 10.25-inch screen is integrated into it. The infotainment functions are located in the upper half of the display, while the lower half is reserved for the climate control. All functions are operated via touch sensors. If the traffic situation does not permit this, the most important settings can alternatively be made using voice commands.
In addition to many knobs and switches, the new TUCSON’s interior also lacks the visible housing on the dashboard, which usually houses the speedometer, tachometer and key indicator lights. These central displays are now presented by a 10.25-inch digital display in the dashboard, which runs seamlessly to the doors and creates a separate zone for the driver and front passenger. The two silver decorative lines, which additionally emphasize the spaciousness of the interior, extend to the rear doors.
In addition to a high-quality visual impression, the complete revision of the cockpit created additional space for the new multi-air technology: in addition to the main air vents in the middle of the cockpit, many small ventilation nozzles between the center console and the doors distribute the conditioned air particularly gently and evenly, so that the Air conditioning is perceived by the vehicle occupants as less annoying. High-quality soft-touch material in complementary and neutral tones runs through the entire interior and takes the look and feel of the new Hyundai TUCSON to a new level.

Significantly increased space on the back seat and in the trunk
An ambient light positioned in the two side pockets of the center console, in the induction charging surface for smartphones and in the storage compartments in the doors ensures an atmospheric driving experience. With 64 different color tones and ten brightness levels each, it also leaves room for personalization.
TUCSON customers can choose from three interior designs: In addition to the classic black, there is a black and gray interior, as well as a color package with blue-green elements and decorative stitching. The latter variants can optionally be ordered with leather seats. Anyone who takes a seat in the back will immediately notice how generous the space is: the Hyundai TUCSON offers noticeably more legroom than its direct competitors, and not just because of the wheelbase, which has grown from 2,670 to 2,680 millimeters: at 996 millimeters, it is also 26 millimeters longer than its direct predecessor surpasses The headroom above the rear seats is exactly 1,000 millimeters (front: 1,017 millimeters) – a high value in view of the visually sloping roof line.
There is also plenty of space for luggage. When all five seats are occupied, the luggage compartment has a capacity of up to 620 liters, depending on the engine – that’s 107 liters more than in the previous model. With the rear seat backs completely folded down, the new Hyundai TUCSON even offers up to 1,799 liters of storage space, 286 liters more than the previous model. The folding of the backrests, which can be split in a 4:2:4 ratio as standard, can also be initiated from the luggage compartment using a mechanical remote control.
Extensive connectivity solutions with Bluelink ® and smartphone integration
Thanks to Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™, the occupants of the new Hyundai TUCSON can mirror many applications from their iOS and Android smartphones on the display. Several smartphones can be conveniently charged at the same time via the inductive charging cradle or the USB port in the center shelf and two additional USB ports in the rear. For even better entertainment, the new Hyundai TUCSON comes up with a premium sound system from Krell. Eight loudspeakers, including a subwoofer, are strategically placed throughout the vehicle and ensure a high-quality sound experience.

The new Hyundai TUCSON features Bluelink ® telematics services, which connects a wide range of functions such as Hyundai Live Services as well as remote functions via the Bluelink ® smartphone app. With Bluelink ® drivers of the TUCSON can call up relevant information about their vehicle at any time via cell phone and a SIM card installed in the car via smartphone and control many functions in the same way. The apps for this are available for download in the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
The latest Bluelink ® version is characterized by a completely revised user interface of the infotainment system: new start screen, customized symbols, improved menu navigation. The routes in the navigation system can now also be calculated on a powerful server within the Bluelink ® cloud environment. This data, stored on the servers and updated every month, allows for more accurate traffic forecasts and arrival times, as well as more reliable route recalculations. For the first time, drivers can also create up to two main accounts and one guest account, as well as a profile picture via the Bluelink ®Upload application. This allows individual vehicle preferences such as language, Bluetooth and navigation settings to be saved in the cloud and called up again at any time in other Hyundai vehicles. Another new feature is Last Mile Navigation. The smartphone takes the destination from the vehicle’s navigation system and shows the driver the correct route to walk there.
In addition, live services in the Hyundai TUCSON save time and nerves. They enable real-time traffic information, the display of gas stations and free parking spaces nearby, local searches for interesting destinations and weather forecasts. At the same time, Bluelink ® in the Hyundai TUCSON offers increased safety. For example, the system reports when the doors on the vehicle are unlocked or the alarm system is triggered. In cities where drivers are unfamiliar, the system locates the parked vehicle via GPS and shows the shortest route to the car. If a stopover is required on the way, it can simply be said, in completely natural language, e.g.: “Take me to the next gas station.”

The most comprehensive safety and assistance systems in its class
The new Hyundai TUCSON comes up with exemplary active and passive safety systems. A world first in its class, the TUCSON features a center airbag between the front seats that can prevent the driver’s and front passenger’s heads from colliding in the event of a side impact. In addition to ABS and ESC, the standard scope of all four equipment levels also includes trailer stabilization, hill-start assist, hill-descent control and a new multi-collision brake – after an accident, it prevents the car from continuing to roll uncontrollably and possibly hitting another obstacle. In addition, many of the modern SmartSense assistance systems are included as standard: an attention assistant, a high-beam assistant, a lane departure warning system and an emergency brake assistant, which now also recognizes cyclists. New in the Hyundai TUCSON are intelligent traffic sign recognition with a speed assistant and a lane-following assistant. Both systems are also standard on all equipment levels. If, despite everything, something happens and one of the seven airbags is deployed, the new Hyundai TUCSON will make an automated emergency call via the eCall system.
