The Malibu XL is also available with a 2.0L turbocharged engine matched with a nine-speed automatic transmission and a 1.3L turbocharged engine accompanied by a continuously variable transmission (CVT).
The new variants, which come with a choice of six exterior colors and two interior colors, are priced from RMB 164,900 to RMB 184,900. All meet the China 6 B emission standard and come with an eight-year or 160,000-kilometer warranty for major engine and transmission parts, as well as 100G of free OnStar 4G LTE data service every year.
“Our new entries provide an exciting opportunity for the Malibu XL to keep up with the diverse preferences of midsize car buyers,” said Scott Lawson, general director of Chevrolet for SAIC-GM. “The new engine and powertrain combination offers the perfect balance of performance and fuel economy. Like the rest of the Malibu XL lineup, the new variants feature an athletic design, dynamic handling and amazing features all at an attractive price.”
The 1.5L engine delivers maximum power of 124 kW and maximum torque of 250 Nm @ 1,700 rpm. Together with the nine-speed automatic transmission, it enables the Malibu XL to go from 0-100 kilometers/hour in 9.1 seconds while offering fuel consumption as low as 6.3 liters/100 kilometers.
The convenience of the Malibu XL has been enhanced with the arrival of Chevrolet’s upgraded MyLink+ in-vehicle infotainment system. It supports One-Click Registration, the Light App Platform, Life Services, Owner’s Tips and other new connectivity functions. In addition, it comes standard with the new-generation OnStar telematics system, Bosch’s new-generation electronic safety system, independent digital display tire pressure monitoring, reversing radar, automatic locking, child safety locks and other safety features.
