New RAPID – the brand’s bestseller – has become even more technologically advanced and modern, while maintaining its attractive price positioning. And the compact urban crossover KAROQ expands our offer in the highly sought-after SUV segment, offering a high level of equipment and impressive spaciousness. Today’s innovations prove that every family has its own ŠKODA. 

The premiere of the models took place in the format of a unique bright multimedia show in the largest planetarium in Europe, in St. Petersburg. The presentation of the new ŠKODA models in the 360 format had a truly cosmic scale: for example, 39 projectors were used to fully illuminate the dome, and NASA footage, 9-meter long LED screens, lasers and other state-of-the-art lighting equipment were used to create the immersion effect into space. Moreover, several musical compositions were written specially for the event.

In addition to this, the ŠKODA KAROQ was presented to the general public as part of the new show of the world famous Cirque du Soleil, and this is no coincidence: the company is united by a similar ideology based on the pursuit of excellence, the use of advanced technologies and the desire to inspire people and make every moment of life memorable … The Czech brand has been an official partner of Cirque du Soleil since 2017.

New RAPID: Balanced Combination of Functionality and Emotion

The presentation of a fundamentally new ŠKODA RAPID was a surprise at the event in St. Petersburg. The model retained a practical and functional liftback body, while receiving a more modern design and new technologies.

The new front end gives the RAPID a distinct personality. Sharp edges, a sloping bonnet, swept headlamps with integrated LEDs and a hexagonal radiator grille give the popular model a modern look. The rear of the car has also undergone significant changes. For example, RAPID now features striking tapered L-shaped lanterns at the back in a crystal design that recalls the traditions of the famous Bohemian crystal production, referring to the rich historical heritage of the brand. Also an important distinguishing feature of RAPID is the ŠKODA lettering on the boot lid, which reflects the new design language of the Czech brand.

The interior of the new RAPID is equally impressive. This is the first ŠKODA model in Russia with a new liftback interior design. Inside, the new decorative panels and the center console with a separate infotainment display stand out at first glance. It is located directly in the driver’s field of vision so that nothing distracts him from driving. In addition, the RAPID is the first ŠKODA model in Russia for which a heated 2-spoke steering wheel is available. In combination with the heated windscreen, the model becomes especially pleasant and comfortable to use in winter conditions.

The advanced technology of the new RAPID provides an exceptional level of comfort and safety. These include, for example, the Front Assist distance control system and parking sensors in the front and rear bumpers.

The novelty will be produced at the Volkswagen Group Rus plant in Kaluga. It will appear at Russian ŠKODA dealers in the first quarter of 2020. The ŠKODA RAPID 1.6 MPI 5-speed manual transmission in Active trim with air conditioning will be offered at a price of 829,000 rubles.
