2019 Nissan GT-R
The 2019 Nissan GT-R is offered in four models – GT-R Pure, GT-R Premium, GT-R Track Edition and GT-R NISMO. The GT-R Pure is designed to be the most affordable of the four followed by the GT-R Premium, which adds an 11-speaker Bose® audio system, Active Noise Cancellation and Active Sound Enhancement systems, and Titanium exhaust system to the long list of GT-R Pure standard equipment.
The GT-R Pure and GT-R Premium models’ legendary performance is rooted in a hand-assembled twin-turbo VR38DETT 3.8-liter V6 engine rated at 565 horsepower and 467 lb-ft of torque. The engines are hand-assembled from beginning to end in a special clean room by specially trained technicians, a process similar to racing powerplant construction. An aluminum plate is added to the front of each engine showing the name of the Takumi engine craftsman.
Standard on GT-R Premium models is a Titanium exhaust system, which combines with Active Noise Cancellation and Active Sound Enhancement technologies to filter out unwanted noise and retain excitement during spirited driving.
The GT-R Track Edition is designed to deliver a higher level of performance than the GT-R Pure and Premium models, while featuring many elements of the flagship GT-R NISMO. The GT-R Track Edition retains the GT-R Pure and Premium models’ 565-horsepower engine rating (versus the GT-R NISMO’s 600-horsepower rating).
The Track Edition’s performance features start under the skin with additional adhesive bonding (in addition to spot welding), which helps increase body shell rigidity versus the GT-R Pure and Premium models. The NISMO-tuned 4-wheel independent suspension receives unique NISMO tuning, with reduced weight and additional roll stiffness. Other standard equipment includes GT-R NISMO front fenders, 20-inch NISMO forged aluminum-alloy wheels and dry carbon-fiber rear spoiler1. Inside, the Track Edition interior includes a unique red and black color treatment with high-grip, motorsports-inspired Recaro® seats.
The Nissan GT-R NISMO remains the extreme iteration of Nissan’s GT-R supercar, featuring outstanding performance2 – anchored by a 600-horsepower high-capacity turbocharged 3.8-liter V6, enhanced body structure and unique NISMO suspension tuning.
Unique NISMO body features include carbon fiber front and rear bumpers, black outside mirrors with red stripe and carbon fiber side sills and emblem treatment. The GT-R NISMO’s handmade dry carbon rear spoiler has a special coating that allows carbon fiber “weave” to be felt by the touch. The lightweight dry carbon fiber material is also incredibly strong1.
Inside, the GT-R NISMO instrument panel and steering wheel are covered with high-quality Alcantara® suede. NISMO racers influenced the design of the dark gray with red stripe steering wheel, with three spokes, red center mark and red stitching to give a strong combination of grip, feedback and comfort. An 8-inch touch-panel monitor featuring large icons on the display screen make it simple to use, while the Display Command control on the carbon fiber center console allows easy operation without having to touch the monitor. Unique to GT-R NISMO are the leather-appointed Recaro® seats with red synthetic suede inserts.
All 2019 Nissan GT-R models are built on an exclusive Premium Midship platform, which enables the use of the unique independent rear transaxle ATTESA E-TS all-wheel drive system. This system places the transmission, transfer case and final drive at the rear of the vehicle, optimizing weight distribution and maximizing handling capability. Total vehicle adjustability is provided by set-up switches located in the center of the instrument panel, enabling the driver to adjust transmission, shock absorbers and the Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC-R) among three settings – Normal, Special or R.
There are no significant changes to GT-R for the 2019 model year.
