Spotlight on the 1971 Eneos Datsun 240Z

The highlight of the ENEOS booth is John Lau's “Devil Z” 1971 Eneos Datsun 240Z (S30), which draws inspiration from the Wangan Midnight anime manga series. This project is a collaborative effort between Lau and designer Jon Sibal, a seasoned veteran of SEMA, who crafted the car's muscular widebody design featuring a custom front splitter and rear diffuser by Skillard.

With the enhanced fender space, the 1971 Datsun 240Z now accommodates impressive 17x11.5” front and 18x13” rear Work Meister M1 wheels wrapped in Toyo Proxes R888R tires. To optimize performance, the engine—an ENEOS-lubricated Datsun 280ZX L28, bored to L30—is equipped with forged 87mm flat-top pistons and forged H-beam connecting rods, paired with a ported and polished P90 head. A Garrett G35-900 turbocharger, mounted on a Protuner ZTurbo manifold and downpipe, forces air into a fabricated intake plenum fitted with 47mm velocity stacks. Engine management is handled by a Haltech 2500 ECU, optimized for E85 fuel and featuring traction control.

Power is delivered through a Nissan G37 six-speed transmission to a Ford Super 8 differential. Apex Engineered oversees the primary suspension components, while Turbohoses has designed 340mm carbon-ceramic rotors to ensure efficient braking for the 1971 Datsun 240Z.

Visitors can look forward to finding several unique emblems and Easter eggs on the vehicle, including billet pitchfork emblems on the exterior and a custom "Devil Z" oil cap under the hood. Inside, personalized "Devil Z" Speedhut gauges add to the car's distinctive character. The assembly and painting of the vehicle were completed by Supreme Auto Body, finished in the striking Porsche PTS San Marino Blue Metallic.
